Description
Zephyr: Giant swords! What’s wrong with ‘em? I want them.
Evan: While such a weapon would be rendered impractical anywhere outside of fiction, many knights and soldiers have used these immense weapons to bring victory to their allies and death to their enemies.
Zephyr: And today, we’ve got a matchup between two knights who did just that, using their legendary blades of choice!
Evan: Ike, wielder of Ragnell…
Zephyr: And Siegfried, wielder of Soul Calibur! He’s Evan and I’m Zephyr!
Evan: And it is our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
IKE
Age: In his 20’s
Height: 5’11”
Weight: Unknown
Species: Beorc
Is possibly Gay (I ship him with Soren)
Theme: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHl3Iy…
FEATS
Led the Greil Mercenaries into numerous victories
Helped restore the rule of Crimea
Overthrew the empire of Daein
Defeated the Black Knight using the Holy Blade Ragnell
Defeated the Dragon King, Deghinsea
-A.K.A. The most OP character in the Franchise, stat-wise
Killed the Black Knight in a rematch
-Took up his sword, Alondite
Slew the Goddess Ashera
Evan: Born to the father Greil and the mother Elena, Ike’s life was anything but peaceful from the moment he came into the world.
Zephyr: See, Greil just so happened to be the leader of a band of mercenaries called… the Greil Mercenaries. Gee, REAL original name there.
Evan: Despite the less than original name, the Greil Mercenaries were the most feared group in the lands of Tellius.
Zephyr: So Ike grew up just about how you’d think, learning to fight and survive on the battlefield. Even though he wasn’t the most popular, his father still saw potential.
Evan: Until one fateful day when tragedy struck .
Zephyr: Well, if by tragedy you mean the Black Knight, then yes. Just like that, Ike was without a father. So what does he do? Become leader, of course!
Evan: Though that decision caused some to desert the group in protest, that would quickly become a mistake. After all, it was by Ike’s blade that the rightful rule of the kingdom of Crimea was restored, and that the Black Knight was defeated.
Zephyr: And what blade would that be, you may ask? Well, feast your eyes upon the beauty of a sword that is *deep voice* RAGNELL!
Evan: Though it may appear to be a simple bronze claymore, Ragnell is much more. Its blessings by the goddesses Ashera and Yune have made it not only unbreakable , but also magical in nature.
Zephyr: What Locke means by that? Well, you’re gonna have a tough time hurting Ike with this thing, since just holding it boosts his durability. And even then, don’t expect your luck to give you a nice critical hit, because this thing negates them completely. Might as well call it the sword of unhurting.
Evan: On a more offensive standpoint , the Ragnell has several methods to damage foes besides hacking and slashing.
Zephyr: Not only can this baby pull a master sword and shoot waves of energy, Ike can even light it up for more firepower !
Evan: Ike has mastered the divine flames of ragnell. He can dash at enemies to send them skyward, counter attacks in the blink of an eye, cause explosions by striking, and even cause miniature eruptions in the ground by stabbing it.
Zephyr: Though he’s liable to be hurt if he charges that too much. Still, he’s pretty tough to be able to withstand that heat!
Evan: These flames range from the standard orange heat to, well, white-hot blue fire. Note that while orange flame reaches temperatures around 1800 degrees farenheit, blue fire hits almost twice that, at 3000 degrees.
Zephyr: That’s more than TWICE the heat needed to melt steel! And you know what’s even better? Ike can fan the flames by firing off gusts of wind from it.
RAGNELL
Ike’s weapon of choice
A divine claymore enchanted by both Yune and Ashera
Unbreakable
Negates opponent’s critical hits
Boosts Ike’s Durability
Can fire off shockwaves to attack from a distance
Capable of lacing itself with fire
-Can even heat the flames to blue
Can fire off powerful gusts of wind
Eruption: charges sword with fire and stabs the ground with it
Quick Draw: Dashes forward with wind power
Counter: Counters an attack
Evan: Though, perhaps that can be attributed to his immense strength.
Zephyr: Oooohhhh yeah, Ike is NOT lacking in the physical department. Considering he grew up on the battlefield, that’s to be expected.
Evan: Ike is strong enough to to fight on par with Laguz, shapeshifting humanoids who take the forms of animals.
Zephyr: Like Lions, Tigers, wolves, and even fucking DRAGONS!
Evan: He clashed with the Black Knight, and during their duel, they tore up the stone around them through the shockwaves of their strikes.
Zephyr: Not to mention the fact that he straight-up shatters heavy armor like it’s no biggie. But who needs to be strong when you can be fast?
Evan: Being deceptively fast for his size, Ike has shown the ability to block arrows, keep up with wild beasts, and even dodge magical lightning.
Zephyr: Is it real lightning? Probably not, but the fact that he dodges any sort of lightning-based attack is impressive! I’d say it’s on par with the real thing.
Evan: Being such a strong unit, it is easy to guess that Ike also has endurance on his side. Realistically, he should be dead by now.
Zephyr: Yeah, the dude’s shrugged off arrow wounds, fought through hits from giant spears and axes, and even taken hits from gods!
Evan: Though physically tough, it is still important to note Ike’s low magic resistance, though his sheer endurance still lets him fight through it.
PHYSICALITY
Strength
-Shattered stone when clashing with the Black Knight
-Capable of Breaking through Heavy Armor
-Can plunge his sword through solid steel
-Tangled with Dragon Laguz, who stand twice the height of a normal man
-Lifts the massive Ragnell
Speed
-Deceptively quick for his bulk
-Can fight on par with Beast Laguz, who take the form of lions, wolves and tigers
-Able to deflect Arrows
-Can dodge bolts of magical lightning
Durability
-Can fight on through Arrow and blade wounds
-Shrugs off hits from Axes, Lances and swords
-Can survive multiple blasts of magic
--However, has low magic resistance
-Survived blows from Gods and Dragons alike
-Unaffected by his own flames
Zephyr: Eh, magic is overrated.
Evan: Excuse me?
Zephyr: *Shushes Evan* Not now, i’m doing a thing. I was GOING to say that magic is overrated when Ike can use skills like these on the battlefield!
Evan: *ahem* Yes, ike’s skills are quite useful. For example, though lances are supposed to be his bane, his lancebreaker skill essentially negates that, letting him perform extremely well against them.
Zephyr: You think that’s good? Try Axebreaker, which multiplies a benefit he already had! Only downsides being, of course, the fact that not everyone uses axes and spears.
Evan: Should that be the case, Ike has more than that to rely upon. For example, if attacked, ike’s patience skill will boost his evasion and accuracy, letting him not only evade, but counter with deadly precision.
Zephyr: with Sol, he somehow steals the HP of his opponent, and with Luna, he deals out a strike that ignores the opponent’s defense. And you can bet that’s gonna hurt.
Evan: Ike can even combine Sol and Luna to perform Aether, a technique involving leaping into the air with Ragnell and slamming down on amy unfortunate targets. It uses Sol and Luna in succession, allowing him to reap the benefits of both.
Zephyr: But wait! There’s more!
Evan: By releasing the full extent of his power, Ike can use his ultimate technique, the Great Aether.
Zephyr: A.K.A. the BEST final smash. And No one is allowed to say otherwise.
Evan: After alighting his sword, Ike can send an enemy skyward, dealing out a devastating barrage of 13 strikes, before slamming them back down to earth with enough force to cause an explosion.
Zephyr: note that if this were using REAL physics, that would mean that he was traveling at around 90% lightspeed in order to cause that explosion. Think about that.
Evan: That… sounds incredibly unrealistic.
SKILLS
Patience
-Activates if an enemy initiates an attack
-Should this happen, boosts his evasion and accuracy
Luna
-A strike that ignores the defenses of his opponent
-Randomly triggers, at least in-game
Sol
-Absorbs the HP of a target upon an attack
-Randomly triggers, at least in-game
Axebreaker
-Increases damage against axe wielders
Lancebreaker
-Increases damage against lance wielders
Aether
-Ike Throws his sword into the air, leaps to it, and slams down
-Shoots out a wave of energy upon impact
-Uses both Sol and Luna
Great Aether
-Ike’s most powerful attack
-Ike alights his sword and sends an enemy into the air
-Strikes the enemy seven times, followed by two kicks and four more slashes
-With a final strike, sends them back down to earth
--Causes an explosion on impact
Evan: Now, you may be asking if Ike is a perfect fighter. The answer?
Zephyr: Oh hell no! First of all, his magic stats suck. Like… they just sssssuuuuuuccccckkkkkkkkkk.
Evan: One can see that in his lack of ranged options. Besides shooting off shockwaves from Ragnell, he… doesn’t have any other methods of attacking at a range, forcing him to use melee combat in almost any situation.
Zephyr: Last but not least, his abilities are… random! At least, sol and luna are. To be perfectly honest, though, that’s probably just game mechanics, since he can use Aether whenever the hell he wants!
Evan: Such a power is proof of Ike’s immense strength. If he is on your side, you can trust that victory is near.
WEAKNESSES
Not very magically gifted
Has all but one ranged option
-Ike performs much better up close
Many skills are randomly triggered or highly situational

SIEGFRIED SCHTAUFFEN
Age: 40
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 154lbs
Species: Human

FEATS
At the age of 16, defeated Cervantes and Inferno to claim Soul Edge (non-canon)
Threw off the influence of Nightmare
Defeated Zasalamel/Abyss with help
Turned a group of bandits into elite mercenaries
-Led them from then on
Defeated a large squad of Malfested soldiers, single-handed
Partook in all-out war against Nightmare
-Eventually defeated Nightmare
Evan: In the late sixteenth century, the holy roman empire was weakened. After the Italian wars, it was being driven back by an uprising of german peasants.
Zephyr: One of these peasants, A.K.A. the people’s hero Frederick-
Zephyr: NOT THAT FREDERICK!
Evan: Frederick, during his crusade, would meet and spend the night with a woman named Margaret.
Zephyr: And then 9 months later, she had a kid! ...that’s… Well.
Evan: That IS the tradition of the time.
Zephyr: Evan, shut up.
Evan: Frederick would name this child Siegfried, only to leave for combat once more not long after. However, before he left, he promised he would return.
Zephyr: And by the logic of fiction, he isn’t gonna keep that promise!
Evan: Because his father was away and no one respected women in the 16th century (how far we’ve come since), Siegfried became associated with the Dark Wind gang.
Zephyr: A group of, and I quote this DIRECTLY from the wiki, “edgy teenagers”. Because nationalism, they decided to attack a group of fleeing soldiers, thinking them as cowards. Hell, Siegfried was even able to kill the commander himself!
Evan: Which… turned out to be his own father.
Zephyr: Seeing that, Siegfried went so crazy that he actually managed to convince himself that it was someone ELSE who did it. And thus, he went on a journey for the legendary sword Soul Edge, hoping that he could “avenge his father”.
Evan: That… did not work. He instead became possessed, transforming into the demon knight known as nightmare.
Zephyr: Until the most OP character in the game (probably not really though) won on a technicality. Somehow, Siegfried was able to wrestle back control and sanity from that! So instead of trying to destroy his father’s killer, he went on a mission to destroy Soul Edge! How did he do that, you may ask?
Evan: Using Soul Calibur, the holy blade and the ONLY thing able to destroy Soul Edge.
Zephyr: Okay, this weapon has the most BADASS backstory. Forged by an ancient king and made with the soul of a goddess inside it, this baby is one part sword and one part crystal, and I LOVE IT!
Evan: Though the blade has sinced moved on, there was a time where Siegfried was its master, making him an incredibly formidable hero.
Zephyr: Like Ragnell, Soul calibur boosts Siegfried’s defense, and even lets him regenerate HP as he fights!
Evan: Perhaps more impressively, the sword is as long as Siegfried is tall, and yet he still manages to wield it with little effort.
Zephyr: But what legendary sword would be complete without a bit of offense, eh? In this case, it comes with Ice magic!
Evan: Soul Calibur has the unique ability to control ice to an extent, such as trailing it along the blade or even shooting out trails of ice crystals.
Zephyr: Even better, Seigfried’s entire armor is covered with the stuff thanks to this blade, adding on another layer of protection.
Evan: Note that because of the appearance of the ice, we can assume that it’s Blue ice.
Zephyr: How tough is that, you may ask? Well, tough enough to withstand over 50000 psi before breaking! That’s the strength of a hydraulic piston, for crying out loud.
SOUL CALIBUR
Siegfried’s weapon of choice
A holy blade containing the soul of the Goddess Elysium
Siegfried is no longer the master of it as of Soulcalibur V
-He is being given it for fairness
Boosts Siegfried’s defense
Causes him to slowly regenerate HP and heal wounds
Can manipulate Ice to an extent
-Has coated siegfried’s armor with it
Evan: Of course, even without the icy armor, Siegfried has shown more than his fair share of physical feats. He is tough enough to not only withstand hits from golems like Astaroth and giants like Rock, he can also survive wounds that… well, no man should survive.
Zephyr: We’re talking electrocution, burns, impalements, being tossed around by Nightmare, another giant sword wielder, and even magic!
Evan: Though after the immense blast of magic, he was near death. However, it is still an impressive feat that he even survived at all.
Zephyr: Now, you’d expect someone who can take damage like that to dish it out too, and you know what? You’d be exactly right. Even when using Requiem, a much weaker blade, Siegfried can smash through stone flooring like nothing, so just imagine what soulcalibur can do!
Evan: He has knocked around heavyweights like Astaroth and nightmare with simple kicks, has shattered heavy armor with his sword, and can even suplex foes that weigh far more than he does.
Zephyr: And that’s awesome.
Evan: Unfortunately, this immense strength comes at the cost of speed, something he has not focused on during his training. As such, he comes across as rather slow and lumbering.
Zephyr: But don’t let that fool you! He can still keep up with ninjas that can move faster than the eye can see, and even block flintlock bullets with his blade!
Evan: A normal flintlock bullet travels at a bit over 500 miles per hour. Something much faster than the average human reaction time. Quite an impressive feat if I do say so myself.
PHYSICALITY
Strength
-Capable of smashing through Stone flooring
-Knocked around the Hulking figure that is Astaroth
-Fought against an entire army by himself
-Can break heavy armor with a few strikes
-Can lift impaled opponents over his head
--Can even suplex them
Speed
-Not many feats of speed, preferring brute strength
-Still able to block flintlock bullets
-Kept up with ninjas like Taki and Natsu
Durability
-Fought off the influence of Soul Edge
-Survives blows from the massive Astaroth
-Took hits from Nightmare himself
-Survives impalements and all sorts of wounds that would kill a normal person
-Survived an immense magical explosion
--But just barely
Zephyr: Not as impressive as magic! Yep, it’s that time again!
Evan: Siegfried is by no means a stellar mage, but his usage of soulcalibur and a few other tricks has served him well in his time as a warrior.
Zephyr: As we’ve stated earlier, he can shoot ice along the ground and put it on his own body, but that’s boring! Instead, how about using the spirit of his father to call down a bolt of LIGHTNING!
Evan: Though why his father would want anything to do with Siegfried after being slain by him is beyond us.
MAGIC
Ice Magic
-Can lace Soulcalibur with ice
-Can shoot ice crystals
-Can create a trail of ice along the ground
Lightning
-Calls down a lightning bolt from the heavens
-Powered by the soul of his father
Zephyr: What, that not enough for you? Okay, he’s not only big, he’s skilled! EXHIBIT A, sending victims to kingdom come with the Ashen blitz!
Evan: Soul conviction is an upward swipe that breaks through any attempts to guard against it, and Geist destroyer is a pair of downward strikes-
Zephyr: That make an earthquake! Damn, you make it sound boring!
Evan: hmph. While difficult to pull off, mail vortex is incredibly effective, consisting of three blows of different heights.
Zephyr: Shit gets real when he pulls out Legacy Testament, his penultimate attack! A.K.A. Ice magic to the extreme in the form of a street-sized wave of ice! Yeah, good luck staying warm through that!
Evan: To finish off an opponent, he uses Soul Conviction
Zephyr: But forget fighting with a sword, Siegfried is a PRO WRESTLER! Suplexing, throwing them upwards, hitting ‘em with the chair- wait…
Evan: Yes, he has a multitude of different grabs to use.
Zephyr: I have to.
Evan: No...
Zephyr: *ahem* www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LitDG…
Evan: OH, FOR THE LOVE OF-
SKILLS
Ashen Blitz
-A high, horizontal swipe
-sends opponents flying back
Soul Conviction
-An upward-swipe
-can break guards/blocks
Geist Destroyer
-Two downward swipes
-the second creates a slight tremor in the earth
Mail Vortex
-Three blows, one middle, one low, and the final high
-Difficult to pull off.
Several types of Throws
-Throws opponent upward by the feet
-A suplex
-Close-range swipes from Requiem
-Throwing an impaled opponent with his sword
Legacy Testament
-Siegfried’s Critical Edge
-Charges Soul calibur with energy
-Swings downward, creating a massive trail of ice crystals
Critical Finish: Soul Conviction
-Used to finish off an opponent
-Impales the enemy, then swings them over his head
-Smashes them onto the ground
-Charges Soulcalibur with energy until its length doubles
-Swings down, creating a massive ice spike
Evan: *AHEM* anyway…
Zephyr: *being an unconscious heap in the corner* owww….
Evan: As powerful as Siegfried may be, he is not without his fair share of weaknesses. As we stated earlier, his attacks are slow, and some of them leave him vulnerable during their wind up. In addition, his sanity is… questionable.
Zephyr: *slurring* Gee, he deluded himself into thinking that he didn't kill his dad, gave in to Nightmare's influence not once, but twice, and is still haunted by him to this day. Somethin' is NOT right in his head.
Evan: Zephyr. Get up. You aren’t steel, so stop quoting him.
Zephyr: *grumble*
Evan: Have it your way. In any case, he has proven his worth more than once on the field of battle, and he will likely do so again.
WEAKNESSES
Slow general movement
Stronger attacks require windup
-Leaves him vulnerable
Questionable Sanity
-Convinced himself that he didn't kill his father
-Haunted by the memory of Nightmare
-Likely recovered from this
Trust issues
