I just don't get the way of dueling, how does it work? i have seen 2 eps of it but got really confused over the dueling so gave up on it.

The duel with "AR" or "Augmented Reality", thus they use the things that go over their eyes called "D-Gazers", other than that and Exceed (XYZ) Summoning it's all the same in the way of dueling. Just watch a few more episodes and it'll get better. Honestly it took until Kaito comes in to catch my interest - which is like episode 13, and then the Tron Brothers came in, in season 2 and I lost my soul to the series.

I still don't understand, it seems they summon monsters lower then the ones sacrificed.

No. Exceed summoning you mean? They have to summon two or more monsters with a matching level to summon something of the same ranking number.

So if you have 2 level 4 monsters you can overly them to make 1 rank 4 exceed summon. Does that make more sense?
