Description
Scouring empty dens was a dangerous job. After all, they may turn out not to be empty, so it's always good to have a friend to watch your back. Fire drills aren't bad practice, either.

bet you all thought i'd have the little man attacked by a badger
wHAT DO YOU THINK I AM A MONSTER C'MON NOW
instead, there's the girl! sadly her name isn't birdweed. i'm so sorry
but hawkweed can't pronounce her real name, bc it's.. birdspeak, so he calls herrrrrrrr.. RIVERWEED. still got 'weed' dw
Riverweed didn't like hawkweed's name at first, because hawks are just little, quick eagles in her eyes. and eagles are her worst nightmare for (insert whisper pmv) reasons
hawkweed can't give his name up bc it's an important part of him so he offers to name her after something comparable to the sea, his worst nightmare. but.. a little, quick sea. which is a river ofc
y'know. makes senseΒ
n together, they can find a kinder association with words that bring up nastier memories
i could have explained it in a comic or art but.. i Don't Want To
artistic liberty has driven me to write how her words 'translate' in hawk's ears, with sentence structure being off, and some words just plain not translating to anything a wolf would understand. just birdthings
since the familiar-speak ability is just between the familiar and the wolf, i'll say any words written are specifically how hawkweed's interpreting them yaddayadda, so on and so forth :3
