Description Part 3 of 3
So, as promised, here are some drawings from my character design brief. These are my final drawings for my project (which were very rushed! And drawn in about 3 hours...) which are A3 prints.
We had to choose 3 characters from one of Edward Lears poems; I chose an Owl, the Fimble Fowl, and the Blue Baboon.

And this is the Blue Baboon. In one of the classes, our tutor said that the animals didn’t have to be exactly how they were described. I quite like the noses on the Mandrill baboon, so decided to combine that with a dog (as I find their stance, and sometimes aggression quite dog like. Plus I like dogs -shrugs-). The type of dog it is, is an English Bull terrier. This one is probably my favourite, just because of the design, colours and environment. I’ll probably draw more of this character... so keep an eye out (;

Oh now I really like this one! Very original idea too. The blue character really pops out of the background

Ahaww, what a cool dog! x) I'd totally adopt one of those, being the mandrill lover I am, lol. You did a great job on the background! I really like all the details, and how real the grass looks as it goes to distance. The trees look very fun too.

One crit :[ Since the sun is behind the dog, you should only add the light around the shape of the animal, and place the shading in the inner parts. The way you shaded it here makes it look like the light comes somewhere from the front. And the mandrill nose is a little too shiny. I mean, a mandrill nose does have a lot of contrast, but you still have to add the right shading on it, or it may appear like a shiny blue metal put on the face.

Heh thank youuu c:
Mandrills are awesomely cool too. Thanks!

Ah I see what you mean now about the lighting. And yea the nose does look a bit too shiny, I think here I was trying to make it stand out more than the rest of the of the character, maybe made it stand out too much haha xD. There will probably be more drawings of him (He's just too cool to pass up for a project xD). Next time I'll tone the nose down a bit, maybe make it a little more realistic (:

Thanks again for your feedback <3

Looks amazing. I love how you can tell it's still a baboon, even though you moved the colours/appearance onto the body of an English Bull dog.
The background is great!
