Cockerill 2643 of the Stoomtrein Dendermonde-Puurs heritage railway bursts into life at the Scheldeland in Stoom happening.

Built by the John Cockerill works at Seraing, Belgium in 1907, Cockerill 2643 was built as an industrial shunter intended for the Meuneries et Brasseries works at Marchienne-au-Pont, and ended her operational career at the ABR-works at Petit-Enghien in 1971.

In 1981, the little steam engine was acquired by the nascent SDP; after five years of work, she was able to perform her first tests in 1986, and in 1987 she was used for the inaugural season of the SDP heritage railway.

Nowadays, Cockerill 2643 has been largely replaced on heritage services by larger and more suited steam engines, but this has also allowed the organisation to fully restore the nimble shunter.
