C. & V. Hansen was the artist name for Vilhelm Hansen, born May 6th 1900, and his wife Carla Hansen, born September 19th 1906, both born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was a trained lithographist, while she was a writer. Vilhelm started out as an advertising illustrator, and it was only late in his career, in 1951, that he started illustrating the stories written by his wife Carla.

Debuting as a caption comic, Rasmus Klump was a newspaper strip which recounted the stories of a bear cub and his friends, who end up building a ship so they can have adventures around the world. Carla and Vilhelm made the strip from 1951 until 1965, when he passed the pen to other artists. The series was translated world-wide in numerous languages.

Vilhelm Hansen passed away December 23rd 1992 in his native Copenhagen; his wife Carla passed away on December 6th 2001.
