Description RIGHT ONE IS KNIL SOLDIER AND LEFT ONE IS VELDPOLITIE

At first glance, the Veldpolitie uniform is the same as that worn by the KNIL and the difference is even more difficult to see because the majority of Veldpolitie photos are black and white. But when compared directly, we can see some differences (in my collection, I don't have any photos of KNIL soldiers wearing puttees and caps like those worn by the politie on the left. But basically the puttees worn by the politie are the same as those worn by the KNIL. This is also applies to belts, there are several examples of politie wearing smaller belts than the photo above such as the belts worn by KNIL soldiers).
The first is the color of the uniform. For politicians it looks lighter because the color used is khaki. While the KNIL wears a greenish color.

Second, the number of buttons is uniform. The uniform on the politie wears 6 buttons, while the KNIL has 7 buttons.

Third, the uniform pocket on the politie looks plain compared to the KNIL.
Fourth, the emblem on the pet hat. For politie use the symbol of the Dutch government, namely a lion with a crown. The KNIL uses gold and orange roundels.

Fifth, rank, although both wear rank on the uniform collar, but politie is seen wearing an additional rank on the cuff or cuff (arm circumference under the uniform). And the cuff motif of the politie uniform with KNIL is different.
Sixth, although both of them wear emblems on the upper arms, the emblems on the politie are probably regional or unitary emblems. While KNIL is a symbol of skill.
