Description
The cold, stale air of the base did little to quell the heat beneath that feverish skin. The sick researcher shivered in his sleep, keeping the thin blanket in near constant movement. Safety wasn't guaranteed even with the pair's silence. Crammed underneath a shelving unit at least the two were under some slight cover. Overhead the speakers continued to drone the emergency alert- scarlet lighting flashing, yet age was beginning to display itself in the way the speakers had a distinct whine. The abandoned and damaged base was surely and slowly breaking down ever more. How much longer could they last? What of these creatures? Certainly they didn't need to consume the people they cut down, yet they showed no signs of starvation. A majority of the vile things just stood inert waiting dormant until an unlucky soul attracted attention or was spotted. Then there was the concept of that mystery illness: how could flu-like symptoms lead to …those things? Luckily the telling behavioral changes hadn't presented themselves in the sickened man...meaning the odds of such a change were thankfully low. But could the two separate should such sickness make itself known? As of now the men only had each other in the months since the disaster. A brief murmur left the albino's lips; shifting slightly to get comfortable, appearing to be at relative ease. Falling back into a deep slumber, clearly used to the droning noise and bright lights. Sleep threatened the guardsman- yet overhead a series of hair raising noises sounded from the ventilation system. Promptly snapping the former cop back to an alert state. Gingerly the lone soul keeping watch cradled the scientist: hoping in fervent silence that the threat would pass.
