However, something about the composition doesn't feel right to me... I think it could benefit from more movement in the frame. The shape formed by the dandelion is predominantly vertical and horizontal. Perhaps it would form a more interesting composition at an angle? Or something in the background might help, to bring in diagonals, movement, and more depth.

Firstly, I've spent a lot of this year experimenting with both macro photography as well as droplet photography and know how hard it can be sometimes to get lovely lighting. It's very strange how with the sun back-lighting something and such a small D.O.F. the background can be turned black and with something as delicate as a dandelion it's strange to see the background so dark but It's quite intriguing too.
I like the effect being backlit has caused on the dandelion itself - The droplets are in perfect clarity and I love the slight bokeh on the left hand side of the photograph.
There's something about the composition that throws me slightly off which is that there's a bit TOO much black. I would've preferred it if the dandelion were to be slightly more down in the frame with the rule of thirds taken into consideration or even just a tighter crop on the subject. One other way of framing it could be to have the dandelion coming in to the photograph at an angle from one of the corners so giving a more diagonal feel and flow to the image.
Personally it's just slightly too dark to me and there's not too much you can do about that when the background is near to black but where it isn't dark the textures and shapes of the dandelions and drops are lovely.
After looking at a few different macro shots of yours I can tell you definitely have a talent for macro work so please continue at it. To be honest I'm surprised you chose to put this in to be critiqued rather then 'Loneliness' or one of your other dandelion images because I can't even fault that piece at all and the others are all very light and beautiful and I think in comparison I prefer your gorgeous lighter compositions with their fragility and sense of calm. You have some severe talent!!

Critique for FF ^^
First off, your skill as a macro photographer is admirable. The clear, crystal-like quality of the water droplets can only be the work of pure talent, and they are enhanced by the fitting title. They look like little diamonds. I also love the contrast between the white and black. However, I wish a little more of the dandelion was in focus. The texture in this is also really nice; it seems really soft. Very excellent work!

and no it was done in my garden
the dandelion was in the sunlight and the background wasn't
due to the use of a really small exposure time the background seems to be black
