Name: Amaalok (inuit for "big woman under the water")

Age: 47 years old

Nationality: Water Tribe, but has lived in Republic City for 15 years

Skills:
Tailoring: She owns a small tailoring shop in Republic City, where she works upon commission.
She makes hazardous-resilliant clothing, such as the Equalist's uniforms. She personally makes sure that they are flame-retardant and/or electricity-resistant and/or waterproof. She also makes regular civillian clothing for both benders and non-benders, though that has taken a backseat to her Equalist-oriented work load now that she's joined the group.

Mechanical Repair: Her work with electricity (particularly the electric gloves) has made her somewhat proficient with electricity-based machinery. It is a skill she implements mostly on making or repairing Equalist gloves.

Harpooning: As a youth in the Water Tribe, she was highly proficient at spearing whale-creatures when hunting. She can, with relative accuracy and power, throw or stab a harpoon or harpoon-like weapon, even though she hasn't whale-hunted since she left the Water Tribe.

History: Amaalok grew up in the Water Tribe, relatively isolated from any bender/non-bender oppression. She was a proficient whale-hunter there, working alongside benders as a team to hunt down the creatures. She met her female partner Mana during one such mission, 15 years ago. Mana was a tourist from Republic City, and had witnessed the great inequality and oppression of non-benders growing up, and was thus very passionate about the subject. When Amaalok and her wife moved together to Republic City 15 years prior, Mana was almost immedietely enthralled by the Equalist movement, which had been then a relatively non-violent concept. Amaalok, in support of her wife, provided her services to the Equalist movement -- sewing uniforms, repairing gloves, and such -- though she was mostly a fringe member who did not attend rallies or participate in attacks at all, and actually disapproved of the violent counterattacks they would sometimes implement against benders.
Unfortunately, Amaalok's wife died in a surprise raid during a rally, having been electrocuted by a Fire-bender cop after being doused with water by a Water-bender. Amaalok was devastated: Mana had died with one of her hand-tailored uniforms on, but the material hadn't been able to protect Mana from the combination of water and electricity.
In memory of Mana's passion for equality, and her unfortunate death wearing one of her own uniforms, Amaalok has formerly joined the Equalist movement and has decided to dedicate her life to making sure their uniforms are as protective against fire, water, and electricity as humanly possible. To this end, she tests her clothing on herself -- she'll put on a uniform and electricute herself with a glove, to make sure they are perfect.

RP sample: "Benders and non-benders are equal in my eyes -- they are like different phases of the same snow. We have many words for this in my language, yes? Cold snow, hard snow, snow as deep as your grave and snow as thin as your life; snow to pile on for warmth, and snow to pile on for death. Some snow you dress to battle with, and others yet you dress to frolic in. But the mistake you make in identifying us as benders or non benders is this: Snow, like people, is not binary -- it is not death or life, bender or non bender. It is water. Whether it deals death or extends life is dependent on environmental circumstances, that pull and hurdle it about. But, in the end, it is merely a form of water. Yes? We must find words different for differentiating our shades of snow."

Additional Info: Since Amaalok joined the Equalist movement so late in the game, she has no real knowledge of it besides what her wife Mana has told her, and what violent protests she has witnessed as a civilian. And, having grown up with many positive bonding experiences with benders and non-benders alike on her whaling expeditions, she does not have the passionate hate many Equalists have against benders. She enjoys having philosophical discussions with members and non-members alike about the subject of benders versus non-benders, and seeks to clarify her opinion on the Equalist movement.
She is a peaceful individual at heart, and will always seek a rational discussion over a fight. Though she creates and repairs electric gloves, she makes sure they only emit electricity enough to incapacitate, rather than kill. She makes her uniforms with the thought of saving people in mind, rather than thinking them a tool used to harm others.
