In other news, The Book of Life was a very cute, very well animated film. The designs were all gorgeous. It's definitely a mexican-american interpretation of mexican culture and traditions, but no less endearing and heartfelt.

the spanish version is first best then english is the second!

I enjoyed the spanish version, but I would've preferred it if they'd committed 100% to translating all of the songs. the fact that they translated some but not others felt clunky to me o:

Guillermo de toro is a really good director. he is still deciding on making "monster" manga the movie, one of my favorite manga. it's really nice to see a director doing something from his native country in a form of entertainment and learning Mexican history and mythology

As for "Monster" -- holy shit I'd be stoked if they borught it to the big screen. It's also one of my favourite manga of all time (Naoki Urasawa constantly competes for best manga artist/writer/creator with Makoto Yukimura for me). I'm unsure if they can cram the whole drama into a feature length film, though. As it was, the anime lasted 70+ episodes and it was tight.
