Hundreds of years ago, when she was nine years old, Stella was playing alone in the woods and a vampire hunted her with the goal of killing her for his own feast, but after being bitten by the attacker she screamed which alarmed nearby travelers of their location and the vampire fled, leaving the child with her new life as a vampire. She was able to manipulate her form into that of the first nocturnal animal she saw, which ended up being a barn cat, so she is also able to shift into the form of a brown tabby kitten.
Stella is immortal and although she has lived for many decades, she is forever stuck in her nine-year-old body and constantly struggles with the hardships of hiding her true identity and being in the form of a child forever and therefore being treated as such. Unable to own property or rent a home, she used to sleep behind dumpsters in alleyways as a kitten until she was taken in by a teenage boy while in kitten form. Eventually he found out her secret and they became close friends, though Stella knows one day she will lose him like everyone else she's outlived. Stella wants nothing more than to find a cure so she can become human again and age properly, but over time she's started to find more and more comfort in the concept of death.
Although she understands it, she loathes being treated like a child. She uses her cute childlike appearance to lure predators into becoming her prey, killing them and drinking their blood to fill her appetite.
