This is a piece that is recognizing and remembering a man that I never met but have heard a lot about. Someone who traveled more than most while fighting his demons along the way. The flaws and rips are there intentionally.
Not my typical style and a bit challenging to my brain as well as very dear to my heart.

Thank you! It's my all time favorite ever- bar none. Would have a canvas print made of it and hang it here but living in an "A" frame style house SUCKS for hanging art. lol

I've been meaning to check this out a lot earlier. Sorry I'm so late.
I feel sad yet hopeful for the man walking down that long empty road that seems to have no end in sight. Looks like he's lugging around what could be his entire belongings. I like the crossroads sign you put in there too. "January" to the right, which would seem to me that fate is actually telling him to take that path. The road and the view are wide open which would say to me there are so many possibilities down that road. The "Lost" path really looks just like that, lost. It's narrow, dark and dirty, and seems to lead into a thickness of trees. Who knows what's on the other side of that. I'd rather hit the open road, much like your character. The scribbles, rips and tears, as well as the dark colors make this look almost like a photo that he may have had crumpled in his back pocket for the entirety of his journey. Perhaps a stranger took it and gave it to him as a remembrance token. That's just my interpretation of this lovely piece. The DD was definitely very well deserved.

I like the rips, wrinkles and broken bits. They remind me of letters or handwritten song lyrics, carried around forever in pockets and bags until they become imbued with luck and experience.
