this is just simply beautiful.. the eyes really draw you in.
and the wings. the fact that only one is in view i really enjoy,
i love how the hair sort of.. spirals down and out in some places, it makes me tihnk of those weird plants that grow up the side of houses. creepers? whatev.
anyway. the point is, this is one of the best i've ever seen.. it's relaly beautiful.

i like your colors. and the eyes, nice and big and beautiful. i like how oyu do your eye shadow on the sides. the flower is a nice touch. i like the skin tone with the lips, but they are a bit too deep to me. and the hair, the stringyness of it i like. everything has a curl, a swirl that separates it. and its up close, which is a nice change for full body. brings the expression out really well up close.

"realism" or "proportion" is sometimes something that leads to no creativity.

I always admired skills of fotorealism artists but at the same time was wondering what's so interesting in being just a good or even great copy-machine. This teaches to see the worls around - the lighting, the proportions, the little things but really - leads to no creativity as you're just trying to make the copy as real as possible. So.. You're just making a copy of things that exist, that someone has already created.
I would love to be good in realism but I would never like to do a realistic comission such as portrait from a photo that would look 100% like the reference. Comic style gives you the freedom of ignoring the rules od the real world. But before you start playing with this freedom you first HAVE TO learn the rules of realism.. The basics. Like anathomy, light and shadow and color palettes. I'm not saying that you need tostudy it in some school or read tons of books. You just need to learn how to SEE. Not how to look at things but how to see them. And that's a difference.
I totally agree with you although I'd really like to be good in realism because putting bariers to yourself is no good for the artistic evolution of an artist. The same goes to stickig just to one kind of drawing media. You have to try everything before you decide what's good for you and what's a no-no

I never learned the anatomy but I draw human characters. They're taller, bigger, fatter, slimer than usual, and very different from realistic works. What i want to say is that you don't have to study traditionnal anatomy to be able to draw human figures... What matters is what you express. Of course, and that's pretty obvious on deviant art, many people draw horribly bad and it's obvious that they're trying to render real anatomy and one can see weird eyes, noses, hips, arms, etc... because they don't see with their feelings but with a filter : how it "should" be in 'real". It should only be how you see it. I don't know if i'm clear or not, but i think you feel the same way.
