I have a pair of boots almost exactly like this minus the straps. They're waterproof, I bought them for walking in the snow and their awesome: toasty and no slippin'.
They're called Gaetanna and are made by La Canadienne if you're interested^^

Hiya. I love all your art.. and I'm a total shoe ho! I'm a designer/programmer, but I went to fashion school just to learn how to make shoes!
First, finding good, comfy plats like that is almost impossible, because the huge plat is a subculture speciality thing.. midrange designers (like Steve Madden, etc) that produce quality shoes (I'm talking $150-$300 USD) rarely venture in that direction. New Rocks are probably the best made shoes in that style.. but they are a little too manly for me these days. I have several huge plat pairs, and I reserve them for concerts so I can see over everyone.
Magic Shoe/Pennangalan Dreams/Cobblers To The World shoes are ok made, but since they are made in England in a smaller factory, they are more expensive than they should be. I have a pair of their $300 Transmuter boots. For $300, you don't expect to get a shoe that still has pattern markings on it in pen.. and the first round of them had soles that fell off. Also, I'm convinced that they use narrow width lasts (forms) for a lot of their shoes and mark them as medium width, and after being educated in footwear design/construction/anatomy, I think it's a Really Bad Idea and a bad business practice. You can really screw up people's feet by not making anatomically correct shoes.
Second, like the other poster said, the Fluevog OS footwear thingie is a total longshot, and they usually modify your shoe to fit their family styles and if it was even chosen, it would be at least a year in production.
The easiest and cheapest way to get these boots is to get these or similar boots
[link]
and a seam ripper.. you can rip off the bottom 2 straps and the straps that hold down the buckles. And then take the boot to a cobbler who will likely have a post sewing machine that can get into the small areas of the top of the shank. He/she can easily sew on velcro bits to the straps and shanks. OR. easier, you can hand sew on the velcro with a leather needle.
You'll still have a boot with some perforations left where the stitches were, but it would be cheap. I would not be that great quality tho, because Demonia/Pleaser boots are kinda crappy.

Oww...you might like the boots that Nana and Ren wear in Yazawa Ai's "Nana". Do you know it? If not I'd gladly find some examples for you^_^ I always loved the boots myself!

you know, Pennangalan [link] had a style VERY similar to those (only with 5 straps at the top) but i can't find that style on their cataloque anymore.

i had a pair of demonias (6" platform, 8 buckles up each side, metal plates inbetween) that were beyond glorious to look at, but you're completely right in calling that style of footwear on just not being that confotable or practical.

I love boots. I've always wanted a pair of New Rocks though, and I still don't own any(they cost SO much...). I do own 2 pairs of tall ones though and then 2 other combat style ones. la la.. here a picture of me and my boots. [link] they're very broken, they actually broke right after I got them but I loved them too much to stop wearing them, and I fix them somehow everytime they break sooo. yeah. the other pair I have are similar no buckles though and not shiney, they're black with red stitching and red laces and zippers of course... they leak bad if it rains though..
anyways yeah.. Yay for boots. I've always liked the simplicity of Koma's boots. ^_^

Hell yeah, most of the boots I see have TOO many additions attached to them. I like looking at others wearing such boots but I could't wear them myself.. I don't like the way I look having them on my feet -_-
But the shoes you own are really ok to me!! They don't have any unnecesary additions and the buckles are really delicate. So these are boots that I could wear. Although I'm afraid I'd damage them as well, I don't have luck when it comes to boots xDDD

yeah I've basically gotta accustomed to my boots breaking. all but one pair are seriously messed up and broke. But I love them. I always have to wear like 3 pairs of socks with them during the winter though, 'cause my feet like freeze off haha. and my school like wants to save money all the time, so most of the classes aren't heated properly. I really like boots that don't have too much on them, like even some of the simple pairs I have like to get stuck on things and 'cause me problems, I can't even imagine all the problems I could have with ones that have a ton of things all over them.
la la la. there's a few other pics of me and my boots if ya wanna check them out. [link]

Wow, I would never though that someone could organize such a contest xD
But after looking through few pages with the designs mine looks nothing more than ordinary and uninteresting in comparism to the others ;____;

I don't know if I couldn't find it or is there no contest for shoes taking place now?
I can see the finalists but I can't find any info about their contest so I don't know where to send my design.. I've actually sent it as an opensource one because even if I don't manage (somehow) to join the coontest maybe they will decide to produce this design or one pair for me lol
