Original paper sculpture "Ikebana Inspiration - Lotus"

I found an old asian book in a flea market and decided to give life to its pages through a delicate floral composition inspired by japanese floral art: Ikebana.

There are in Japan 3000 Ikebena schools. Codes are many and complexes, but the result must always be refined, asymmetric. It is not only an esthetic exercise but also a search for sense and symbolism highlighting elements like flower, leaf, branch, bark...

I chose here the lotus, the flower symbol of the spiritual rise, but also for me, strong symbol of hope. Indeed, this magnificent flower rises and blooms even growing in the mud if you see the analogy !

I represented here all the stages of life (bud, flower and hull(shell) in the shape of spray nozzle which will release the future seeds by drying).

As always, everything is hand made. No laser cut, no punches.

Measurements:
12.5 cm x 11 cm x 22 cm in heights.
