Well, this took me days to create, but YAY its done!As you can see, I made this dog as a wolf-like akita. Gaomon (one of my favorite Digimon) is based on an akita dog and that inspired me to draw one. They're cute and they have funny tails too.
The big challenge of this deviation was the background, and man, I had to learn it on my own. Gathered tutorials and downloadable brushes for GIMP and, wow! Pretty nice results. I got inspiration from my near by beach next to the Pacific Ocean, which I have lived next to for my entire life. Its really nice to swim and surf in summer, but in winter, not so nice.
I guess I'm going a bit beyond my novice art skills, so I'll stick to character drawings for a while. But I hope you like my work. Comment, favorite, watch, suggest, whatever, any of that stuff would be helpful!

i like the way you incorporated the dunes and such. the lines in the water really set this off, too!
normally i'd say that if the shadow is too much in the same shape of the object, it loses it's impact somewhat, but from that particular angle, along with the shading you did, it definitely seems appropriate.
the horizon line... on the land, it definitely works out great! maybe over the water, thin it a bit and make the color a shade darker than the water i dunno. i always screw up with horizon perspectives, so maybe that's not such a good idea. i dig Gaomon too because he's a boxer (no, he's an akita) I... ?
