Description I created this image from ten hours of photograph exposures each 6 minutes long!

The Christmas Tree Nebula, also known as CPN-56 9221, is a young planetary nebula located in the constellation Monoceros. It was discovered in 2012 and gets its name from its distinctive shape, which resembles a Christmas tree with a bright central star. The nebula is about 4,600 light-years from Earth and is thought to be the result of a dying star expelling material into space as it approaches the end of its life. The bright central star is the remains of the original star, which has collapsed into a white dwarf. The gas and dust expelled by the star create the glowing, colorful clouds that make up the nebula.
