Story time!

The leaves swirl around us, my son and I.
Its almost Thanksgiving, one of his favorite holidays. He loved my cooking and always asked to
help me around this time of year. it warms my heart to see his eyes shine with pure happiness when
I let him help in the kitchen!

"Mommy?" He said, bringing me back from day dreaming.
"Yes Sunny?" I looked down at him.
"Are you going to make your Pumpkin Pie this Thanksgiving?" He asked with is bright blue eyes shining with joy,
those same eyes that stared at me that day...that day...

it was around this time five years ago I found him, his parents gone forever...
shivering in the streets of Ponyville. I was in town buying groceries for myself and my pets, we were getting low on food.

I saw him across the street, staring at the ponies walking by, dressed in a thin grey jacket, I knew he was really cold.
His eyes found me as I walked up to him.
"You ok? I asked' He looked at me with wide eyes.
"Um y-ya I'm fine..." He started shivering again so I took out a soft blanket
from my saddle bag and covered him with it.

"Um whats your name Miss?" He asked quietly.
My name is Night Shade! Whats yours?
"Sunny" He said while smiling a bit.
"you shouldn't be out in this weather you'll catch a cold! Wheres your parents? I asked. His smile faded and his eyes had a sad look to them.
"I don't have parents, they died..." He said. I could see unshed tears in his eyes, I felt like crying after hearing those words.
He was an orphan, like me, unlike him my parents abandoned me, I don't know why but they did and never came back. Memories flashed through my head about the hardships I lived through growing up alone.
"Do you have a place to live?" I asked.
"No I don't. I usually spend my time here." He said.
I looked at him sadly, he looked hungry too. "Oh, Well would you like to come stay with me? I can take care of you!
His eyes went wide as he looked at me.
"Re- Really! He stuttered out of shock. "You would take me in?
"Of coarse! I can't just leave you here, come on I'll make you dinner!

I looked down at him.
"Of coarse! Thanksgiving would't be Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie!"
We both laughed joyfully
