Description This is a BW version of a picture that I put up some time ago. It's one of my fav's as it reminds me of the joy that I encountered in the children that I met and photographed in India.

On my first trip to India in 1992 I knew nothing about cricket. When I told people I was from Australia they would often come back with "Booone". At first I thought this must be an Indian greeting? It took me some time to realise that they were referring to David Boone a famous Australian cricketer of the day. Like Australians, Indians are so mad about cricket. There is a cricket game going on nearly everywhere you look, and being an Australian (even one who can't play cricket to save her life) some of that Australian cricket magic goes with you and protects you.

I love this shot! The description really tops it off - you're right, cricket is *the* sport there, and you've captured this moment so well. I like how the boy in the foreground is blurred as this adds to the sense of movement, and the composition works really well, too. Indian kids are always so happy
