Description In recent times there has been much talk of the Higgs_boson
There have been many attempts to discover its existence.
Yesterday, July 4, 2012, the physicists at CERN have announced
that they have caught their prey [see here]

This my little work just to remember to myself this event.

Unfortunately these bosons are guys very unstable.
As soon as you see them, they are transformed into other types of particles.
So I had to work fast to create this image... and the result is not very good... oh well.

All materials used in this work are mine.

Thank you very much for appreciate this work
Your question is not silly at all, so it is a pleasure to answer you.
I usually use more than one program to create my images.
In this work I mainly used Gimp to process and assemble the various parts that make up the image.
I created these parts with PaintNET, Apophysis (for fractals) and again Gimp.

thanks for explaning! I don't know these programs.
don't know much about digital art either, I think yours' stand out for me because they're so weird & surreal;
the use of morphing body parts & repetition does the trick. Great work!

Spettacolare immagine.

Yes, I created a simple fractal, using Apophysis, to represent bosons.

Thanks so much, Danielle
I'm always fascinated by this kind of events.
If I think I exist thanks to these bosons... well...

Indeed it's quite impressive. We've finally physically found dark matter.

You're welcome.

Karolusdiversion In reply to AdrianosArt [2012-07-08 01:26:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, the Higgs boson is not part of the dark matter.
It is the subatomic particle that allows other particles to have a mass.
Without it we would not have a body... Perhaps we would be pure spirits like the angels (or as devils, in my case)

AdrianosArt In reply to Karolusdiversion [2012-07-10 04:07:40 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm... The way it was explained to me, scientists believe dark matter was part of what held the universe together. The Higgs boson does that by allowing particles to have mass, thus keeping them close.

Indeed. Devils in your case? Really?

Karolusdiversion In reply to AdrianosArt [2012-07-10 20:56:56 +0000 UTC]

The existence of dark matter (because it does not emit radiation) was assumed for to justify the fact that the expansion speed of the Universe (to the periphery) increases instead of being constant.
The dark matter is manifested through gravitational effects on the rest of the visible matter, which represents only 10% of matter that make up the Universe.

Indeed. But what a wonderful mystery it is.

Karolusdiversion In reply to AdrianosArt [2012-07-13 12:24:16 +0000 UTC]

Yes, a wonderful mystery!
I have followed, for a long time, and I follow the blog of Marco Delmastro ,
a particle physicist (Piedmontese like me) who works in the ATLAS experiment at CERN.
He answers (only in Italian, here ) always neatly and clearly, in a way understandable even to a layperson.
So I understand that the world of subatomic particles is really wonderful.
