Last year I was commissioned/involved with making ~Lomelindi88 's Vergil costume from Devil May Cry 3. It was a combined effort that involved blood, sweat, and tears by both parties. I made the super complicated coat, altered the vest, and Lome did all the other intense stuff like the wig, gloves, pants, boots, Yamato, and makeup.Coat:

Coat info: It is made of high quality bridal satin, brocade, hand made piping, thread, buttons, and independent machine embroidery hand stitched on.. I will not make this very complicated coat again for less than $700. Serious offers welcome.

I have no idea. I stopped paying attention for my sanity around 40 hours, and that was far below how long it took. lol. I admit some of it was my fault, because I pinned the entire bottom back panel and was fighting it on laying flat the whole time, but then had to take it all out and do it again the proper way. There was a lot of times that I did something slow on purpose, because I did not want to screw it up... for instance on the back, (which I still know some problems with it, lol), I had to do twice because I somehow cut it a little too small, or there was a stain in the fabric I didn't see until after I sewed the piping on, or both. XD
But just the embroidery itself took at least a solid day. I did it on my machine freehand, cut it all out, and hand stitched it in place. It was all worth it in the end, but phewwwwwwww. I swore I would never do it again, but I would for the right amount of cash. 8D There is a reason most people don't do this coat right. It absolutely cannot be any sort of fake leather, as the style cut is used for silk or wool. We decided on the bridal satin because it acts like silk, and doesn't look like satin at all. (We also opted for the color in game, and not the more aqua concept art). Nobody also tailors it correctly, and while we have been considering having me rip apart the sleeves to replace a few panels on the bottom side and back, everything else is perfectly fitted to her. Another major problem is the lack of shoulder pads people use in DMC coats. There's a reason suits have these, and if one isn't build like a body builder, you especially have to have one.
Basically this coat is a hodge podge of late 1700s-early 1800s styles, with a bit of mandarin thrown in. There's also probably at least 15 yards of pipping. This eludes most cosplayers, I guess!
Oh, one last thing that always irritates me about everyone's coats is the embroidery is always painted on, and is NEVER the correct scale. Oh and it doesn't go down to the bottom. The design stops around his knee to mid calf, in a three pronged point. The entire design is three prongs intertwining everywhere.
