How do you draw the hair?

I'm no expert and I'm still working on my technique but the first thing I do is draw lines to get the basic flow and shape of the hair. (My deviation "Mikkel" would be an example of this.) Then I begin to shade in whole sections of hair, starting with the lightest values and getting darker. I then go back with an eraser and add highlights to the lighter areas. I add additional strands using my eraser and pencils last. It's important, I've learned, to think of hair various shapes rather than a bunch of strands; that way the hair looks like it has volume. I sure do hope that this makes sense!

Thank you!! Hair is honestly the most challenging thing for me to draw in portraits, so I'm really glad you like it.
