Ash is my favourite character, not exactly sure why most people despise him >.> Great work as usual btw !!

People despise him because he's a troll, and he's actually very good at it. From his appearance right down to his very personality.

It's definitely why I like him myself. He's a very interesting guy. I do wish that he would return, but I don't think that'll happen seeing how he...

Yeah I thought so, I've always seen him as a really cool character, despite his personality and androgynous design. In fact, that's exactly what I like about him in the first place tbh

It would be interesting if he came back, he probably won't though ... That still makes me sad ;-; But considering how KoF XIV is going to be 3D, perhaps that's for the best .... ??

Yes, the fact that he trolled literally everyone, as in both villains and heroes, there were fanboys that got angered; particularly the Chizuru and Iori ones since Ash defeated them both easily AND stole their powers. The Iori ones were especially angered. I like Iori myself, but it's not like he's killed or even weak after what Ash did to him, but it was pretty funny to see how the the Iori ones reacted to that despite that Iori is still as powerful as ever in the KoF story and even gameplay-wise despite that his flames were stolen. Personally, I thought that what Ash was doing kept the plot of the series interesting as he was stirring up trouble for both sides.

Anyways, he'll probably come back in dream match games like how Shermie, Yashiro, and Chris keeps appearing in those games despite their demise. I'd be surprised if he'd ever come back into the main storyline games seeing as how he faced a very cruel and unfortunate fate that is much, MUCH worse than death itself that looks completely irreversible in any kind of way...

Well, anyways, even though KoFXIV is going to be in 3D, it seems that the gameplay is regarded as still good so far, and despite how underwhelming the visuals of the game so far, there is the possibility that they will enhance or smooth that out. Let's hope for that, yes?

OhHoNo In reply to AmyTwo [2016-01-26 08:10:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes I agree KoF XIII was the first KoF game I played so I didn't really have the biggest grasp on the overall story, but since Ash was the main focus I began to really like him and the conflict surrounding him. Iori was just as powerful without his flames, and a new change in the way he plays was interesting for me

I was wishing that the new game would be a dream match but I'm not sure if that's confirmed or not? I was hoping they would keep the visuals from KoF XIII because the sprites were so lovely to look at, I would really like a huge mugen dream match with all the past KoF characters, that would be the shit Β
I'm also hoping Chris, Yashiro and Shermie return somehow (they had cameos in KoF XIII yes ?) because they're awesomeΒ
There was also a final cutscene in kof XIII of Shion returning too, so they better follow through on that !! Shion needs more love

The 3D graphics turn me off a little though, the Maximum impact series was never as good gameplay and graphics wise as the 2D ones, but I hope they'll smooth everything out and make it amazing

Oh, you just started with KoFXIII? Interesting. Even then, it looks like you already have a good amount of knowledge with what is going on, which is pretty neat since the KoF games themselves don't really explain themselves very well, in my opinion, but I guess compared to the other ones that KoFXIII did pretty good on that part.

I agree completely about Iori. I thought it was neat that they were able to still make him such a good character without his flames and making him have a different moveset. I thought that just made him cooler to me.

Oh yeah! I, and likely many others as well, was also wishing for a dream match game after KoFXIII, since that is the usual pattern of KoF; what with a saga ending then a dream match game coming right after it that features most or all of the characters from the very saga that ended. It's a huge shame that didn't happen though and they just went right to KoFXIV. I doesn't look like a dream match game so far. I also totally wanted to see characters like Vanessa and Oswald again with new updated sprites. One can only dream, I guess.

And that's very understandable as to why the 3D turned you off. That's the exact same reason why it turned off many others, or at least initially. One can only hope that everything, all in all, will be tweaked and worked towards the better though. My fingers are crossed for this.

Well, I must say that it's been a huge pleasure chatting with you so far about this whole thing.

Haha well I started with KoF XIII about a year and a half ago before then, I used to play a simple kof flash game online that got me into it. Until now, I've played/owned KoF XI, KoF XII, Maximum Impact, '98, 2002, a bunch of Mugen games and of course XIII. It's quickly become my favourite fighting game XD

I also liked how you could play as Iori's flame version in XIII as well, so I'm not sure why the fanboys have their panties in a twist. He's still there and available, even if the story stated he lost them.Β

I'm hoping for the return of many past characters (Vanessa, New Face team, Shion, Whip etc) and it's a shame they're changing up the graphic and visual style again. They could have just remastered and added some more animations and stuff for the XIII style sprites, and I know a lot of people would probably be satisfied. I'm glad that Angel's coming back, but she looks kinda shitty ... Why SNK whyyy
At the moment, it looks like a Ps2 game to me (which is fine, graphics certainty aren't everything) but it doesn't really seem like a strong step forward for the kof franchiseΒ ;/Β
They also changed Kyo's hair from his sexy sidebangs to this weird ass Justin beiber cut, wtf
But maybe it'll play really well, who knows? I hope they make it easier to do combos haha

Absolutely, thank you for taking your time to have a great discussion with me

AmyTwo In reply to OhHoNo [2016-01-29 14:52:49 +0000 UTC]

So that's how you got into the series. I see. Speaking of Mugen, Mugen did introduce me into the series if I remember correctly, along with a few others such as Touhou (before I even learned that that is actually a shoot em' up series) and Melty Blood.

Anyways, yeah, they could have remastered them, but I just remembered that I, and a few others, were hoping that if they couldn't do it in the KoFXIII style, that they would do it in the GGXrd style; which is also 3D, but it's made to LOOK like 2D, which is amazing in my opinion. Also for the fact that GGXrd is actually a low budget game, there was the possibly for SNK to do something like that as well in my opinion. Of course we could only dream as neither of those things happened.

I also agree about some of the characters you've said. Angel does look pretty odd compared to what we were used to, along with Iori and Kyo. I laughed at what you said about Kyo, but I can't unsee it now. It's so true. But at the same time, I find it weird that some of characters look this different, judging from what they used to look like when they went with the Maximum Impact route before, which the characters from the main KoF games did look more like they're 2D counterparts in my opinion. So yeah. lol And it's totally fine that you felt that way. Many others did as well, and it gave them the initial thought that KoF is done for now after SNK has been bought out by that Chinese company.

And no problem, dear.

Woah which Mugen has Touhou characters in it? I must get it !

I've never seen the GGXrd style you mentioned, but it sounds pretty interesting. I like seeing unique and creative art styles over raw graphical power, personally That might just be me as an artist speaking cx I'm used to playing 2D games because my old pc doesn't like to run all 3D games so smoothly, so I end up playing lots of KoF, Touhou and Skullgirls. I sure hope that kof XIV will run alright on my computer, being 3D and next gen and all Β

True, in Maximum Impact they didn't change the designs of the existing characters very much at all (excluding they're alternate costumes). I thought that sometimes worked really well, and other times looked a little silly. Personally, I actually didn't mind MI that much, I thought the gameplay was pretty decent, they made it easier to play and I had a good time with it overall. The English voice acting was soooo cringy, though >.< Same with XII though, that English dub gave me cancer

SNK were bought out? I didn't know that Β

Oh, I don't know which Mugen it is. I just downloaded four Touhou characters in my Mugen (Reimu, Marisa, Patchouli, and Remilia) many years ago (like when I was around 11) when I was REALLY looking for Eternal Fighter Zero characters so I could make my own EFZ clone game with Mugen, so I pretty much thought the Touhou characters I downloaded were EFZ characters. I figured out the little mistake I've made when I looked for these four in EFZ, of which they didn't exist in. Then I searched their names while putting "fighting game" beside it, and I got the "Immaterial and Missing Power" results. And that's pretty much how I got into Touhou in general after playing that fighting game. lol

Yeah, the game Guilty Gear Xrd. The characters look like HD 2D with larger and cleaner sprites than Blazblue's. It's sort of like Under Night In-Birth's I think, but Guilty Gear Xrd's is actually all 3D. To utilize the 3D engine and make it look really close to 2D is amazing to me. It's definitely unique, in a way. You should totally check out the game if you haven't. Not necessarily buy it if you don't want to, but check it out. But yeah, I wished that SNK went with that style, but they unfortunately didn't.

I don't know bout how much power it is needed to play the game since I'm not a PC gamer, but it will likely use more than what your computer sounds like it can handle? I have no idea, really. But yeah, SNK got bought out by a Chinese company named Leyou Technology. I don't know if I can post links here. but I would have linked you to the article if I could. Also, SNK initially was done with consoles after KoFXIII was out and over with on there, and focused on the pachinko market (lol), but apparently the Chinese company was able to revitalize their interest to get back to their roots and focus on the console and PC gamers? I don't really know if that's what really happened, but that's what I heard from a few others.

Oh, and SNK is said to be done with pachinko machines now after new regulations of the pachinko business in Japan, and is focusing on utilizing their franchises into more games after realizing (finally) that people mostly know and refer to them as a game company instead of a pachinko company, which is what they apparently were going to turn into. They also apparently hired back veteran workers they had in the past to help them with that. Again, I'd link you to the article if I knew that I could. lol

Ah I see, no problem then I usually come across games and anime and things like that in similar weird ways. I came across Touhou from watching Bad Apple years ago, but I only started playing the games recently. I find them quite inspiring, especially since they're made by a single developer. I find that really impressive

I just checked out a few screenshots from GGXrd, and you're right, it looks very appealing! The sprites blend into the background in a sort of 2D way, but when you look closely, you can see that they have 3D dimensions (I'm not sure if that's the right word? ) It's very nice to look at, I may give it a go when I have the time I can totally see KoF in that visual style! It would look so good, I hope they make it like that in the future

I'm not so much of a console gamer so if it doesn't run on my pc I won't be able to get it anywhere else Street Fighter x Tekken works alright though, and that's 3D so I have my fingers crossed !!Β
I actually saw a trailer or something like that of a Fatal Fury pachinko machine thing. I'm not sure exactly, it was a while ago, but I remember being very confused lol. I'm glad to hear that they're not staying as solely a pachinko creating company, that would suck (similar to Konami, yes?) I'll look it up and have a read, thanks for telling me about that ! Β

AmyTwo In reply to OhHoNo [2016-01-30 23:47:08 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I agree about that regarding Touhou. It's simply amazing that only one person was able to make all of these games. Alone, and they are all such decent to wonderful shoot em' ups with a decent plot and extremely great music. Only sacrifice is the art (like how he draws the characters) since they all look like a bunch of dolls, but it's not something I ever really had much of a problem with.

Right? That's the kind of style many people also wished for SNK to do if they won't do like they did with KoFXIII and wanted to go to the 3D route. It's even more amazing that even in that sort of style, it's a low budget game, meaning that it didn't take THAT much money to make. I hope they do something like that in the future as well, but for some reason I have my doubts.

If SFxT worked fine on your PC, then I think you'll be able to play KoFXIV whenever that comes on the PC (which I think is likely)? I'm not really too sure myself, unfortunately, but I don't see that being impossible for you, though.

Mmm-hmm. That's one of the trailers that kind of aggravated a lot of the SNK fans since they were leading themselves into that direction for now on during that time, but not anymore. Oh, and your welcome.

I agree about the character portraits being pretty unappealing, but they're only there for dialogue purposes, so I don't have to look at them for too long They look really great in the fighting games, though. I'm still wishing for an official Touhou anime, but it doesn't look like that'll be happening any time soon >.>

I think SNK could really pull off a style like that. They proved in KoF XIII that they can make really beautiful sprites, so I have no doubt that they could do it and do it well. I wonder how much money they'll make off this new game and if it'll be enough to fund future projects The thought of SNK going out of business or discontinuing the KoF franchise makes me sad. It's a really underrated game, imo. As long as they don't use any more english voice actors x--x

True, however Injustice wouldn't work no matter what graphics settings I changed it to. I might have to upgrade my pc. I hope it'll work, I can't wait to play a new KoF game, even if it is 3D

Ah I remember a lot of dislikes on the video, it did look a little tacky and strange. I actually thought it was a trailer for a new Fatal Fury game or something like that XD Turns out I was wrong.Β

AmyTwo In reply to OhHoNo [2016-01-31 16:00:34 +0000 UTC]

While there isn't any official Touhou anime, there is a couple of fanmade Touhou anime series, one of them being of especially great quality in my opinion, but they're both satisfying to me. The names of them are Touhou: A Summer Day's Dream, and Touhou: Fantasy Kaleidoscope (aka as Memories of Phantasm, as well). You should give it a peek if you never did. I found them both enjoyable, and makes me a LOT more impressed with the Touhou fanbase than I've already have been. As if I didn't find them incredible enough with the insane amount of remixes of the music and fanmade Touhou games, they make Touhou anime, as well. I guess the fact that only one man made all those games and composes all of that music really inspired them (at least that's what I most often hear regarding a reason why the fanbase is so large and dedicated).

Yes, I wonder as well, because as I heard, that's what apparently was going to happen to them, which is probably the reason why they tried switching to pachinko business; both lack and desperate need of money. It's a cheap and alternate way to try to get a good amount, I suppose. I know they've been bought out and that gave them a good amount of funds along with the inspiration of making more of the games they've been making, but if KoFXIV doesn't do so hot or doesn't even get that much praise, I fear as to what potential consequences that will be in store for them.

Injustice? Hm... yeah, just in case, I would give your PC a bit of extra juice whenever you can. I should probably do the same for mine, or just get a better one in general. I got a PC for only $150, and it has very low memory, CPU, and only 2 GB of RAM. Well, I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was looking for a decent PC that at least would play Youtube videos in HD. >_>

Nope, and that's why there's so many dislikes for it. When people heard there was going to be a new Fatal Fury, they thought it was a new full-fledge game, not a pachinko game.

Oh yeah. I forgot to say this, but I do agree that the KoF Maximum Impact games were not THAT bad, but definitely average, in my opinion. I do like some of the characters though, such as Alba Meira and Luise Meyrink. I actually hope to see those characters again in a main KoF game... outside of Maximum Impact, I mean. lol

OhHoNo In reply to AmyTwo [2016-01-31 20:05:33 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah I've watched both those anime a couple of times they're of amazing quality, especially Memories of Phantasm! The fanbase really surprised me. I mean, I've never seen such dedication to fanmade content for a single series in my life, and pretty much all of it is of great quality. The MLP fanbase is similar when it comes to fanmade content, but Touhou always seems kinder and more relaxed to me xD

Yeah, I agree :c I actually thought KoFXIII was their last game, to be honest. I just hadn't heard much from them at all and feared it was their last game. I have such high hopes for XIV now, and if it turns out bad, who knows if they'll ever make another one? The series is pretty long by this point, it'll be a shame to see Street fighter and tekken continuing and KoF being left behind

Haha true, I really need to get a new pc I was going to get one before I went back to school, but it didn't happen, so now I have to use my slow pc for schoolwork x( I'm doing a course in game design and I'm worried that the software won't run very well on it. Oh well, it's my fault for clogging it up with games and anime XD Dont worry, I'm not sure if it's my internet or computer itself, but HD videos don't like working for me either

You could clearly see the outrage, I'm assuming they're not making Fatal Fury games outside of the KoF series any more?

I agree, they were average but I've seen a lot of undeserved hatred towards them. Although they weren't terrible, they also couldn't really compare to their 2D counterparts. I really liked Lien, I thought she was cool and fun to play as. She's in the mugen game I have, but they upped her sex appeal to the state of ... Ridiculousness, and she just looks stupid. It would be cool to see some of them return in XIV though I haven't played the maximum impact game with Ash, but I really must get it >.>

Yes, but as always, I come across some kind of elitist every now and then that think they are oh so better than anyone else that says, for example, that a certain boss is tough while the elitist thinks otherwise and has to brag it up while insulting the one who made such an opinion and the ones who agrees as being a bunch of "casuals". Those people annoy me so much. THANKFULLY, they are not that common, but you'll see them at times and it just aggravates me to no end. Speaking of the MLP fanbase, apparently a few times they have it against the Touhou fanbase? From what I've seen, at least. Not that I'm saying that I dislike the MLP fanbase myself since I don't really care much about them (like the Steven Universe one), but I went to a few places where a bit of the MLP fanbase just keeps talking about that stuff and saying how it's so much better or something than the Touhou franchise (and probably vice-versa from some Touhou fans, I'm sure), and the Touhou fans of course says stuff like "get that crap out of Touhou" and whatnot. Why can't we ever like what we like and leave each other alone? I've also seen a bit of even the CoD fanbase do this, as well, a few times before. >_>

I know, right? That's how I felt at the time, too. Well, I suppose if KoF or SNK as a whole somehow "died", we'd still have Arc System Works fighters to go to (those being games like Guilty Gear and Blazblue), but of course I wouldn't want them to die. Would be terrible. Been a fan of many of their games along with KoF, such as Samurai Shodown, Last Blade, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Metal Slug, etc. The SNK lover of me would be deeply crushed, so if anything, I severely hope that KoF14 would do just fine, at least.]

Makes me feel a bit better that I am not the only one having problems playing HD videos, but it's definitely a sure sign that I'm likely gonna need to get a better one in the future. All of this new stuff is taking more power and pressure on the PC nowadays that it's like I don't even have a choice anymore, else probably won't even be able to surf the Internet as smoothly as I did before. >_< Oh, and same for me. Way too many games on mine and a good amount of anime on it (along with movies), though I mostly have music on there as well. I'm a huge music lover.

I honestly hope they do make more games than just KoF. They are not just known for KoF, of course. As I remembered before, they considered wanting to make a sequel to Garou:Mark of the Wolves MANY years ago. Maybe that's still a possibility. I hope it is ever since their supposed "revival".

You should totally play that one. I think that's KOF Maximum Impact Regulation "A", which is the upgraded version of the one Maximum Impact 2. SNK was going to make a sequel of Maximum Impact 2, but they canceled it later on. I don't really know why, though. Lien? She's pretty cool. I never knew there was a Mugen version of her. Oh, but I'm not surprised with that extreme sex appeal whatever the creator added. Probably not as big as the one I faced before, though. Years ago when I was still a child, I upped my Mugen before and searched for Orochi Shermie. Found a promising one at a popular mugen fansite that looked exactly like nad played pretty much just like her KoF98 counterpart. So I used her in an arcade match, and after winning match and she did the win pose where she would bring up her hand and call forth lightning to strike at it in a cool fashion, as soon as the lightning stroke, her clothes tore and literally went completely nude. My mouth was just fell wide open at that. I was like "Oh my gooood...", so I went back to the same mugen fansite where I downloaded from, clicked the developer's link that the download page had, and it all of a sudden showed me the background of the developed webpage, which had all of these KoF and SF characters bare naked. Again my mouth fell wide open. That was a mistake. >_>

Ah yeah, there are a lot of those people on the internet unfortunately I'm not actually that involved in the MLP fandom or the Touhou fandom, for that matter. Although I love the official content, I've just never been a huge contributor to either fanbase. That being said, bronies can be really sensitive and defensive of their fandom so it's very possible that might be happening? I'm not sure why though, MLP and Touhou are completely different things From what I've experienced, the Touhou fandom is pretty laid back and not very aggressive or obnoxious, although I'm sure it has those types of people in it, same with any fandom. I agree that we should all like what we like and stop being dicks to each other ;( Otherwise everything just turns into one huge shitshow. I love MLP, but the fanbase can be pretty .... ugh.Β

I've never really played Blazblue or Guilty Gear, I considered I didn't need any more fighting games XD They both look pretty cool so maybe I'll buy one when I can get around to it. The only SNK game I've played is KoF, although I've watched a lot of gameplay from their other titles. They all seem quite unnoticed/unpopular? I wonder why that is

Ah yeah, technology is advancing so quickly, I feel like I'm going to get left behind :'D Everyone seems to have the newest apple or gaming pcs with state of the art processors and resolutions and I'm just here with my almost 4 yr old hunk-o-junk. It still works alright though, but it definitely needs to be ungraded haha
Yeah same, I listen to music 24/7. I think I'm going deaf lol

Perhaps if KoF XIV does well, they may consider working on other titles? I don't know, I'm just guessing, but it could happen? It would be cool to see a whole bunch of new games from SNK that aren't KoF, like a new Fatal Fury game. I saw the Garou: Mark of Wolves cartoon, I think. It was super funny because the dub was so stupid. I had a good laugh, but it was cool to see Mai and those guys animated Β

I really wanted to get Regulation A, but ended up getting regular MI instead. I wanted RegA because it has Ash in it lol Lien in mugen is a walking set of tits and butt on a pair of legs. I have no idea how she stays standing up without crippling under the weight of her own breasts. Truly a remarkable feat.Β
My God that is so funny and it reminds me of something similar that happened to a friend of mine He downloaded a Mugen game that came with a few characters, one of which was this version of Shermie called 'Sexy Orochi Shermie'. When I played it I selected Shermie, and her sprite was - and I'm telling all here - just a regular Shermie sprite minus the skirt and panties. It was so weirdly far from being sexy, it was quite uncomforting. She still had the top half of her clothes on, but was completely naked from the waist down. Pretty impracticable, if you ask me XDΒ

I believe Samurai Shodown is their other popular fighting game. Not as popular as KoF, but still their next one, I believe. Back in the day, Samurai Shodown 2 was considered one of the fighting games ever made, along side SF2 and I think a few other fighting games. It's great enough that the very first Samurai Shodown was highly praised, but then the 2nd one was even better. Unfortunately, unlike SF, the third Samurai Shodown game didn't do so well since it actually felt rushed. I mean, there's the better character sprites and visuals and whatnot, no doubt, but the gameplay mechanics... I can't really explain it well. It's understandable when played and compared to the other Samurai Shodown games. Samurai Shodown 4 was better praised compared to the third one, but then Samurai Shodown 5 also didn't do so hot due to it's many clone characters to replace a gameplay mechanic Samurai Shodown 4 had, along with having no stories or endings, and having very frustrating bosses (it's not just the final boss in this one. Think there's two or three bosses before the final one that also are incredibly annoying). The upgraded version of SS5, Samurai Shodown 5 Special, was much better praised gameplay wise, and is said to be one of the most competitive worthy title (if not the most), along with Samurai Shodown 2 and 6 (6, by the way, is like a Samurai Shodown dream match game).

They also made 3D Samurai Shodown games, but those are not as well-liked as the main games. In fact, the latest Samurai Shodown game of the series is a 3D one, called Samurai Shodown Edge of Destiny, and that was negatively criticized tremendously. Also it's only on the Xbox 360, so in both ways, it didn't do well at all. And that was pretty much the last Samurai Shodown game to this day.... I really hope they make new ones to regain the Samurai Shodown love, and they probably should stick with the 2D gameplay route since they just up and stopped with such a grave wound to the consumers known as Edge of Destiny. lol I seriously hope KoF14 will be good in the end, and if it is, then I hope it also does good enough for them to consider doing something like make a new Samurai Shodown game... or another game that isn't just KoF since that's pretty much all that they are focusing on regarding fighting games these days. Like Capcom focusing only on Street Fighter these days when it comes to their fighting games, when for the longest I would have LOVED a new Darkstalkers game.

That cartoon was absolutely hilarious. Not in a good way, but yes, I do agree that it was funny, and it was nice to see them animated all-in-all. Regulation A is quite tough to find these days... along with being very expensive in many places online. I say that you're lucky enough getting a MI game all in all. So many Mugen character designers either make their characters very overpowered or rather weird in one way or another, like how you said about that Sexy Shermie. It's a reason why I quit Mugen after a few years of using it. Was fun while it lasted though. I do know that the fanbase is still strong, though it's not as large as it was years ago from what I often hear.

Wow, I'm surprised I've heard so little about SS, it sounds really interesting. I'll give it a go along with Blazblue and Guilty Gear. Yeah, it really sucks when an otherwise perfect franchise releases a dud, but it's so common. The worst thing is when a game series releases a dud and there's no good games in the franchise coming out to ease the pain. That's what I hope doesn't happen with KoF XIV ... I really don't want such a good series to end on a bad game That's what happened to probably my favourite game franchise, Golden Sun. The first two games on the Gameboy were AMAZING and so underrated. They were some of the first examples to ever get me into gaming, and I still play them occasionally to this day. However, they released the newest title on the DS and made it 3D and it just lost all the charm the original two games had. I played it with an emulator ((I can't beat the final boss though)) and although it's far from the worst game I've ever played, it just does not live up to the high standard of the previous titles. It's unlikely that they'll make another one as it's an old and rather unknown franchise, so the fact that the series ended on a highly disappointing game is almost heartbreaking ;3; They even took out the Golden Sun assist trophy in the new Smash bros ....

I've personally never really been a big fan of Street Fighter. The first game I ever played was Tekken, so I've always enjoyed that more Street Fighter x Tekken was pretty fun though, except the game requires a separate Windows Live-like login to play and the bloody thing never works, but other than that, I've had a great time with it. I have Street Fighter IV too, but I never played it very much. I uninstalled it recently to make space on my pc.Β

I used to watch the cartoon with a friend of mine at school. We also sat through the entire KoF live action movie, which almost gave me cancer. It's so ridiculously and hilariously bad, it's quite incredible. We laughed hysterically whenever a character was introduced and they looked nothing like they do in the games. Check it out at your own risk, I think it's on youtube XD

I've never downloaded Mugen characters for a custom mugen game, so I'm not sure how bad the community is. I usually just download a full game with all the characters already, although sifting through the database, there are some pretty cool sprites people have made. Excluding sexy shermie, of course

UGH, Golden Sun Dark Dawn.... A very fine example as to what I definitely do NOT want to happen to KoFXIV. That game, while it really isn't bad, it definitely was underwhelming, especially compared to the GBA games. Those were wonderful. I also heard that Golden Sun Dark Dawn didn't meet the amount of sales Nintendo wanted, so there likely won't ever be another game...

Oh, I'm not a big fan of SF either, as I prefer Darkstalkers honestly, but I thought I mention that due to Samurai Shodown 2 sharing the spotlight with Street Fighter 2 as one of the best fighting games created during that time. SFxT was alright... I liked SF4 a bit more, but I didn't really play either of the games that long. Fun games, though. SFV looks much better to me, though.

UGH, the KoF live action movie... it reminds me of how I felt about the DBZ live action movie. Beyond terrible. Lordy, beyond bad. I think it was called DBZ Evolution? Forgot. lol The MUGEN community was weird, in my opinion. You got the people who simply wants to make copies of characters of fighting games, you got people wanting to make their own character that is based off of the design of an existing character, you got the ones who want to make their owncharacters completely such as Dragon Claw, you got the ones who want to make completely new games using the Mugen engine (like Black heart or whatever that game is called. I forgot. lol), and then you got the TONS of weirdos who make sexual characters; whether completely original design or not. :/

Gahhh that's so annoying, but it's possibly for the best. The series doesn't need any more bad games to ruin it, but I still wish they included Isaac in Smash I'm surprised by how unknown the GBA games are? They definitely have a loyal fanbase ((myself included)) but I've never met many other people who have heard of them. I suppose I can still replay the first two games to my heart's content, whereas I don't really have any interest in returning to Dark Dawn ...

I played Darkstalkers years ago at a friend's place. I think I mistook it for a Street Fighter spin off or something >.>
I enjoy any game with any kind of character customization, even if it's just altering the colour palettes, so that's one of the main reasons why I played SFxT so much The customize feature in the earlier KoF games was one of the most frustrating things, especially how changing one colour also changes something else. The customization in XIII was pretty decent, though ^^ I hope they bring that into XIV.

I've watched so many reviews of the recent DBZ live action film. It looks amazingly bad, even though I've never seen an episode of DBZ in my entire life. Anime and games that are converted into live action Hollywood movies never seem to work out, so please just leave them alone guys ! ;_;Β
Ah there seems to be quite a lot of original characters in the Mugen game I have which are pretty much all Kula clones. Many of them are fairly over powered and irritating to fight, so I can't say I like them very much ;cΒ

The sad fate of Golden Sun indeed. A cult classic, I believe. I absolutely LOVE color customization in 2D or 2.5D fighting games. I actually did like that about SFxT, so thanks for reminding me that. The one in KoFXIII is... pretty much the only one I've experienced in that series. lol I never knew there was color customization in the earlier KoF games. I need to check that out. But yeah, I really hope this sort of thing returns in KoFXIV. Oh, and speaking of KoFXIV, have you've seen how Robert looks now? I would have NEVER expected that was them if they never said who those characters were when they revealed them. lol He sports a mustache now. I suppose that this takes place a few years after KoFXIII. He can't suddenly grow a mustache while retaining the same exact age he's had in the KoF games so far, no?

That's what I be saying when it comes to anime/manga and games being converted to live-action. It's a little weird since they do fine with comic books and cartoons, but they can't do it with anime/manga and games. lol Oh, and YES> Thanks for reminding me about the Kula clones. There was SO many of those in KoF. I was like "What in the world, is she THAT popular or something?" years ago when I've seen so many of them. The most absurd one is one called Isabeau, if I'm not mistaken. She sports red hair while looking both goth and evil. Many of her attacks are bloody and infused with fire and/or explosions. I absolutely regretted downloading that one since it was literally the cheapest, most broken, unfair character I've ever experience in my life. Hated it so much. Removed the witch right out of my Mugen after only a few uses and matches. I really don't see how people think it's so fun to create these extremely overpowered and literally "impossible to defeat without a cheat or broken character" characters. I just don't find it fun at all.

In the earlier games, changing the colour of one thing would often change the colour of another thing. It wasn't as precise as XIII and often made the characters look a little odd. I'm glad they fixed it though.
Oh my God I just checked it out and ... *Sigh* Why does Robert have a pornstach? Why does he look like a Johnny Depp character? Why does Benimaru look so weird? Why are the graphics and resolution looking like a Ps2 game? Why is there no Mai or Shion yet? Why is king so thin? Why does it look so bad ??
I gotta say, I'm losing hope ... But there's going to be 50 playable characters, so I'm gonna hold out and see who else they're planning to introduce :')

I've never seen a good film adaptation of a game or anime ... Those things work really well in cartoon/animation and as episodic or player-experience mediums. Not films, that just ruins it
Ahaha there's a whole bunch of Kula clone Ocs in my mugen game that came with it. They all copy attacks and effects from other characters, like Iori and Benimaru, but mostly from Kula herself. The most annoying one I've had to fight is this one called Fliz, who fights with ice and crap like that. She has an extremely irritating move where she throws swords in the air which lock onto you and fly down to hit you. I know a lot of characters have moves like this (eg: Oswald) but they're really hard to evade, especially when you're trying to get near her and land attacks. They stun you a little and the battle is just no fun. Stop making Kula clones people !! No one likes your overpowered ocs!
However, there are two extremely hard to beat characters in my mugen game who aren't Kula clones. One is this little grandma witch lady and another is this magician bloke called white. Both are way way harder than any of the other characters in the game to fight. They seem to have no boundaries on how rapidly they can fire projectiles, and white spams this godforsaken attack that makes you stunned. They're on the verge of being impossible to beat. I've managed to defeat both of them in the past, but not after they've taken out the entire rest of my team. Even me and a friend of mine couldn't beat White, despite playing simultaneously. I wonder why there's suddenly two completely overpowered people?

Ah, I see. Thanks for telling me that.

Ahaha. Like me, many others never even KNEW that was Robert until they said that was him. We guessed Benimaru and whatnot correctly, but Robert... Yeah, I don't know why he has a mustache, now. Just gonna assume that this game took place some years after KoFXIII, otherwise... I wouldn't know what the hell they were thinking with that. lol I would love to have Mai and/or Shion return. Also Foxy, and probably make Diana finally playable. I don't blame you for losing hope, and I don't blame anyone for criticizing how it looks so far, but they'll probably surprise us pleasantly in the future. It still has potential, right?

I don't even know why Hollywood keeps tr- well obviously for money due to greed, but they pretty much always fail and lose a bunch of it. Logic does not follow Hollywood!

I REMEMBER THAT KULA CLONE. Fliz is combination of Kula and pretty much Dizzy from Guilty Gear when it comes to what she does. I can definitely understand how you feel towards her, though I still don't think she's as annoying as Isabeau. Still can definitely get annoying, though. Magician bloke called White... tell me, does he sort of looks like a creepy mime or clown; either one while in a white suit or something? If so, I think I know who he is.

I was talking to a friend of mine and he says it looks so bad he'll only buy it if Shion is in it.
Robert looks so stupid! Omg. Also, why are all the characters in different outfits? I know it's like a new generation of KoF and some years have probably passed, but it just doesn't feels the same :c That's just my opinion though. Yes! They should bring back Foxxy and include Vanessa as well. That would be awesome! The hair resolution is just .... ugh. I mentioned already that I take gameplay over graphics ANY day, but it just looks so ... not as good as the beautiful sprites in XIII. What a let down I wonder if Elisabeth will be in it, it would be interesting to see her in 3D

I agree! They keep making stupid decisions like rebooting franchises, when it does nothing but annoy old fans and anger movie critics. Obviously they do it to bring in a wider audience and henceforth make more cash, but would it hurt to create an original movie with actual love and inspiration instead of all these nitty gritty cliche disappointing movie reboots and adaptations? That's probably why I enjoy the work of studios like Pixar and Disney so much.Β

I've never experienced the hell it must be to fight Isabeau XD All I know is that Fliz is the worst one in the game I have, and don't even get me started on all the freaking K' clones! Like bloody hell. They don't even change the voices or stances! >.> Yeah, White wears a white suit and has a cane I think? He laughs manically when he wins and has blonde hair and a top hat. He's OP as fuck in Mugen. He can also change the outfits of some of the characters during a desperation move he has. If you use it on Shion, he turns him into a sexy air hostess

Ah, that's a shame. Least your friend has a great taste in characters since I love Shion myself. lol
I don't really mind different outfits, but only if they have the same or similar flavor as the usual ones they wear. For example, Iori without flames in KoFXII and KoFXIII is wearing a different outfit, but it pretty much has the same, uh, "swag" (lol) as his usual one. Thus I loved it. It fitted him well.Vice and Mature also has the same treatment, along with Elisabeth and King (even though I do prefer King's older outfit). Kensou also wore a completely different outfit in KoFXII and KoFXIII, but since that Kensou design is based on his design in Psycho Soldier, it's understandable (although I do miss his old goofy side. He still has it, but he's a lot more serious, now, I think). The only character I don't mind wearing completely different outfits at all is Athena since that's actually one of her shticks; as in every KoF game she appears in has her wearing a different outfit.

Yeah, how the hair looks is definitely one of the biggest problems. Looks so.... idk, plastic-ky? Don't get me wrong. I would love to see how these characters will look like in 3D, as you said you were interested in seeing how Elisabeth is, but uh... yeah. So far, notable characters look strange, like Robert of course. lol

Oh yeah. That's a good example you've made there, even though I'm not really much of a fan of Disney anymore since I think they are scum, but still a good example. Like the movie Maleficent. Despite the character herself arguably not being as good as the original in Sleeping Beauty, neither was the depiction of Maleficent in House of Mouse and Kingdom Hearts (can't be perfect, folks), and I still enjoyed the film itself. I thought it was a neat one. This also goes for Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella. They arguably might not have been as good as the originals, but they at least didn't completely SUCK, like how there are live action versions of anime. I would say that Hollywood should take notes and stop being so blinded, but you know how they are... Ignorance sure must be blissful for them since they keep making films so badly even today.

I ever really faced as many K' clones compared to the heaping amount of Kula ones, but I think I do remember a couple of them. Thanks for describing about White. I TOTALLY know who that is. White is a character from Real Bout Fatal Fury Special. He's a boss only character, I think. He's pretty hard in there, and I only beat him by spamming. lol But then he has an instant kill when you beat him in the second round that you need to dodge else it'll count has him winning. I never knew there was a Mugen version of him. lol To be honest I love White. I would like to see him again in another KoF or Fatal Fury game, but I don't see that happening.

Crap, you just reminded me that KoF XIII had different outfits, I completely forgot about that X'D I liked how you could change some of the characters to their old design, like with Elisabeth and Kyo. I personally prefer Mature and Vice's previous outfits, I think it made them look more like Orochi killers and less like secretaries Iori's clothes are always so badass, even though he seems to have tied his feet together somehow. It's a shame he doesn't seem to have done that in the new game, lol. King has progressively begun looking more and more feminine as the series goes on. She looked far more androgynous in the earlier titles, which I kinda liked, but the new King is awesome too. Rockin' that terminator kick or whatever it's called. Athena's outfits have always looked cool, and it was interesting to see her in more laid back clothes in XIII. However I swear she's suddenly gone commando >///<Β
I really like what they did with Leona in XIII. They made her look much more sexy, badass and more nicely coloured. The green and blue combination in the previous games always felt a little weird to me. Black suits her way more, imo. Has K' ever even had an outfit change in the entire series ?!Β

I'm hoping the plastic looking hair is just a beta thing, and it'll be sorted out before the games actual launch .... I hope ... ? I mean, it has to be. No way can low res hair like that exist on a new gen console ..... right ... ?! I just read that it'll apparently have a story. Oh boy. I wonder what will happen? Maybe Ash will come back from the grave ?!!? We can only hopeΒ

It's a shame they still earn thousands upon thousands of dollars for poor films that are meant for only that reason. I personally enjoyed the live action Alice in Wonderland film, even though most people seem to think it's bad. I liked the dark, gothic style it had, even though it clashed with the original. Of course, it definitely wasn't perfect, but I don't think it's as bad as people seem to think it is. I haven't seen Maleficent, even though I was quite excited for it. I saw Inside Out not that long ago and I absolutely loved it, much better than Good Dinosaur or whatever that crap fest was. Regardless, it seems like directors and developers and corporations think that it must be too risky to fund an original idea and project, when it may fail and lose them money, whereas a reboot or sequel to a recognizable series will bring in the crowds, no matter how awful.Β

Ah so that's where he's from! I thought he looked a little familiar. I only really beat him by spamming too, the second I get close to him and start using melee attacks he spams right back and it's impossible to beat him. I've only managed to pull off that instant kill thing once, and it was from mashing buttons. He pulls out a gun and shoots you, right? To be honest, he's pretty fun to play as

Ah yeah, I can see that Vice and Mature look more like secretaries now. Now I can't get it out of my mind when I see them in that. Thanks a lot. Yeah, King has definitely been looking more feminine, and while I don't mind any of Athena's outfits, I was kind feeling iffy about how she looked in KoFXII and KoFXIII. I mean, her face... her face looks a LOT younger. Like a doll. lol I got used to it, but I won't lie when I say that I prefer her older, um, face. I really hope they go back to that kind of face. And HELL YES. I completely agree about Leona. That outfit spells awesome, along with her new general look. Loved it so much. Looks more professional, threatening, brave... I just love it. Haha. The colors of her outfit are a LOT better than her previous appearances' usual colors. I don't think K' ever had an outfit change. I wish he could do something like take his sunglasses off. I don't know. I'd like to see his eyes more, unless they look crazy, of which I'm fine then. lol

It HAS to be. I must. That kind of hair visuals is simply... unforgivable in this gen. I'm sorry. lol I know I'm sounding like a graphics hugger, but I can't help but focus on that aspect so much. It will have a story? So it's not gonna be like KoFXII, where they just upgraded the visuals and... that was pretty much it? lol Alright then. I highly doubt Ash will ever return with the way he died, but I just remembered that Elizabeth still remembers him AND holds a memento of him; that being his headband. So there is still a trace of him that he left behind, so idk... SNK might surprise us and bring him back after all. I wish since he's one of my favorites along with pretty much the only troll in KoF, but again I have my doubts.

Oh yes, I loved the dark style Alice in Wonderland had, as well. I enjoyed the movie as well. Didn't care that many people found it bad. Though there are many who also enjoyed it, so I suppose the movie is pretty mixed. It definitely wasn't that bad. Inside Out was so, so entertaining. Such a fun movie that was. I wholeheartedly agree that I loved it. I never watched Good Dinosaur, though. It looks rather interesting. I'll check it out. Anyways, the directors could at least make the live-action films as spin-offs instead of trying to stick with the sources or whatever as much as they can when they know full well that they fail at that more often than not. They can do something like Sonic Boo- wait, no bad example. Well the cartoon and comics are actually decent, but the games were flat out bad (and Sega has the gal to make a SEQUEL!). I can't think of any other recent spin-offs of a popular franchise, so I tried saying Sonic Boom, but... yeah. Erase Sonic Boom from your mind if you can. Terrible example.

YES. White will do that. Very annoying. I think he;ll shoot from his cane. He has that huge orb aura like super that surrounds him that does a HUGE chunk of damage when it hits. I really hate that move. Very obnoxious. Know that I don't like fighting him, like you. I don't really like fighting any of the SNK bosses since... they're SNK bosses. I do like the designs of some of them though, such as Igniz. Magaki and go to hell for all I care.

Ah yeah, I was wondering why Athena looked much younger. I thought that perhaps it had something to do with the art style of XIII? I thought she looked cute, but it's definitely true that she seemed to look less like a loli in the earlier games. It probably has something to do with the art style, along with the puffier hair and sailor girl outfit. I agree with what you said about Leona, she's way more threatening and professional in her new clothes, like a real force to be messed with. Haha, I love the K' sunglasses, I think they're awesome One of my favourite moves of his is where he throws them and then follows it up with a long combo, I forget what it's called but it's bloody badass.Β

I'm scared I'm sounding too focused on graphics too, but it just looks so ... bad. Art style is one thing, but simply unfinished/unrendered graphics is another. Simple indie games and whatnot can get away with simple styles because they're nice to look at and present a unique art direction, but games like KoF XIV ... it definitely seems that clay-looking hair isn't really the thing they're going for, I think. I'm hoping that maybe Elisabeth goes looking for Ash since she has his headband but doesn't seem to fully remember him, and she goes on a massive search to find who it belongs too. I doubt Ash will come back though It would also make his awesome but sad death scene pointless, and that would be bad storytelling I guess XD Hopefully he'll appear in future dream matches, though

I've seen negative reviews on it, then watched it afterwards, and I still enjoy it. Tim Burton is awesome, I love his character designs. Inside Out was so amazing, I loved all the creativity and uniqueness, really fun to watch.Β
Oh God, Sonic Boom. Although I haven't heard much about the show, the game is just ... awful. Why don't Sonic Team stop making games already? They just keep getting worse ... And they're making a SEQUAL ?! Are you shitting me?? WHY ??!Β

YESS he does so much damage with each hit. I wasn't sure if it was just the Mugen port of him or if he's really that deadly in his original game. The only way to win is to spam ranged attacks (my favourite is Shion's botsusen). Ahh the SNK bosses >.> Although I usually like THEM as characters and playable fighters, most of them spam and use cheap cheap CHEAP moves. I can't forget the first time I versed Dark Ash and got completely annihilated from ranged spam, or the final MI boss who I can't remember very well but used the most bullshit attacks to win. And Magaki .... dear lord. Although I like Magaki quite a lot, his fight was just brutal and unfair. Cheapest boss to date, imo. I had to cheat in order to beat him by lowering his health in options. Shion was pretty easy to beat, though. Best boss imo.Β

Oh, it's totally fine about focusing on the graphics due to how it especially looks now. Well it's fine to me since I feel the exact same way. XD Indies can get away with it , I agree, since they don't really have many people working on whatever games and all, although I wish more indies would not go to the 8-bit route games. Don't we have enough of those, already? Well, anyways, at least the stages look nice so far, though. That's good, sort of. lol Ash probably will return in the main storyline, but I do agree that that would proaaabably be bad storytelling. Maybe they will make an Ash replacement? They can make a similar personality and fighting style of Ash, but have a completely different design/look and name while still being the owner of the headband. OR they can just make an Ash lookalike, but it's not the original Ash, as it will actually be a completely different person. Like a reincarnation or some... thing... I don't know. Damn it, I just miss my Ash. He better appear in dream matches or I riot. HARD. lol

Yes, they are making a sequel of Sonic Boom for the 3DS... as if being on the 3DS would make it any better since, even though the first Sonic Boom 3DS game was better than the Wii U one, it still was a horrible game, JUST like the Wii U one, yet they are making another one. >_> Logic doesn't apply to Sega. The funny thing is that they said that they realized how awful they treated their fans due to how Atlus is doing well with them... or something. Sega said after realizing that, they will do better... yet they still believe that Sonic is all we ever care about here in the West, and that they just continue to bring about these stupid games, like the sequel to Sonic Boom that no one wanted. >_> They could start making themselves become better folks by localizing games they never brought over to the West such as the later Phantasy Star games, but nope. More Sonic. Crappy Sonic, at that. Ugh...

Dark Ash really annoyed me. Spamming inifinite dark fireballs at me and crap, which keeps giving me guard damage until I die. That's unforgivable. As if Saiki wasn't bad enough, you have to worry about Dark Ash, who is much worse. >_> And I utterly DESPISE the last boss in MI. Luise was hard enough, thank you, but then you have to worry about cheap mother hell of an asshole known as Jivatma. I will forever hate Magaki. Shion was fun. A little bit annoying as well with his invisible projectiles, but not really that bad, at all. His stage theme was also really good and just kept me motivated in trying. I loved his fight very much, but then Magaki has to ruin it with his Touhou spamming and full screen supers that kill me due to guard damage and when I have low health. Unforgivable. I cheated as well. lol

Oh yeah, I've noticed the 8/16-bit graphics becoming quite popular. I don't really have a problem with them as long as they carry a unique and interesting style to make them look different and appealing as opposed to just primitive. That's probably what turned me off undertale a little, the style was a little too simplistic for my taste, but gameplay over graphics any day.Β
I don't think anyone could ever replace Ash, he's just too cool. They could probably try, but I don't think it would ever work. Ash was a really great character, I'm glad he had an interesting and sad death instead of something lazy or just taking him out of the series without an explanation altogether. He'll definitely appear in future dream matches, since he had his own story arc. That makes me wonder though ... will there be new characters in kof xiv?Β

Why on God's green earth are they making a sequal?! It bombed hard, how could that give them motivation to continue the line? Even though I don't play Sonic, I still think they should just return to the gameplay that works: Fast paced running, lots of cool obstacles and Dr Eggman as the villain. Maybe they'd get good reviews? Worth a shot, right?Β
I'm still wondering why Sega haven't just ended the franchise. It's losing them money by putting out all these crappy games. And yes! They should start localizing some of their other titles, but I guess not .... everyone just wants more sanic, I suppose :l

I remember being able to beat Dark Ash easily as Daemon or whatever his name is by spamming his attack where he smashes the ground with his hands. Dark Ash has no way of avoiding it, so it works really well. That was probably the only time I ever played as Daemon actually. lol
Magaki really did ruin the end of KoF XI for me ... Β The fight with Shion was pretty easy imo, I just went in there and obliterated him quickly, but it was still fun. I love his theme and stage, both gave off a really intense and sinister atmosphere that worked really well for a fight against someone like Shion. I already knew about how cheap Magaki was, but I still remember being pumped for an even tougher and more badass final boss fight. And ... nope. Magaki spammed and barely gave me any room to breath on the screen. You're right, it really was like Touhou. Except shit.Β

I certainly hope there will be new characters, actually. As I think about it, there were practically no new characters in KoFXIII besides Saiki, who I liked, but yeah... Hwa Jai doesn't count even though we haven't seen him in forever and he is by far one of the most unexpected characters to ever reappear, especially since we already have Joe for all these years (it was pleasant to see him again, though). But somehow I doubt this will happen. With the many characters in the game so far that is returning, it seems that the only new characters will likely just be the bosses again, which is disappointing a little.

They don't even have to make Eggman the main villain or Sonic as the main character. The Sonic series has SO many characters they could utilize to make many different things. Nintendo, for example, did this with the Mario series. They made many games with other characters playable that were still fun, not just Mario. They did this with Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, and Wario for example. They even did this with the main damsel in distress, Princess Peach, by giving her her own game (Super Princess Peach) and making her the main one to fight and be on the rescue (I absolutely loved that game. The only problem I had was that is was rather easy, which is the most common complaint), and the main villain of the series, Bowser, by making him one of the main and starring characters to play as in a game (Bowser's Inside Story). While I am totally fine with Sonic continuing to be the main character, Sega could also make Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Eggman, Rouge, etc, but all we pretty much had as the starring characters were Sonic, Shadow (he had his own game), sort of Silver (starred in the infamous Sonic 06), and sort of Blaze (one of the prime characters of the Sonic Rush games, especially Sonic Rush Adventure since it revolved around her world).

And regarding Sonic, they are definitely trying way too hard with him. Many people obviously want Sonic as the starring character in many future games, which is totally fine with me, but it obviously looks like they are running out of ideas with what to do with him (as if you could, in my opinion). Like, they made him a Werehog all of a sudden, than a knight all of a sudden... what next, a friggin' genie? If they are running out of ideas with him, why not just take a break and use any of the other characters in the franchise, like the ones I've said as an example. Like, they could make a treasure hunting game starring Knuckles or Rouge or both, and the gameplay would be similar to the treasure hunting levels you do in Sonic Adventure and Adventure 2. Or make an adventure game starring either Tails or Amy. I don't know, but already I am having ideas for what they COULD have done. It would also benefit them to bring back some of the older characters as either a major or main character, such as Fang the Sniper, a character that MANY fans have been asking for literally decades. And if not any of these, then how about simply making a sequel to one of the older games they've had that are very well-known. Like, they could make another Sonic fighting game like they did with Sonic the Fighters or Sonic Battle. Or they could make another Sonic RPG game like they did with Sonic the Dark Chronicles (which we never had a sequel of even though the game said "To be continued"). So many ideas... so much potential... so many things this series could still be used of, but they don't do squat and instead continues to make crappy games.

Oh, and it's not really that everyone wants more Sonic. No, that's what Sega believes that that's pretty much all that the West focuses on, when there are oh SO many people that wanted either sequels to older series of games like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, or NiGHTs, or wanted games that are only in Japan, especially games that are part of a well-known series such as Phantasy Star. But no, those ignorant idiots just believe that we pretty much only care about Sonic since he's as well-known as Mario here while also a mascot of Sega. It's also implied that they hate the West due to how they've been treating us constantly, like how they keep making us wait for so long just to get a Yakuza game (we had to wait 3 years for Yakuza 5 to localize, and now two years for Yakuza Zero to come here). The majority of people are actually very irritated with how they are being treated here in the West, and has said for them as being one of the video game companies that severely fell from grace besides Namco and Square Enix. We keep telling Sega constantly as to WHY, but they keep ignoring us, and just mostly focuses on the people in their home country while just mostly giving us more crappy Sonic. Ironic thing is that, besides Hatsune Miku, their MMO Phantasy Star Online 2, a few of their arcade games, and I think the Yakuza series, the majority of things they do and make there are not even praised that well, sold that much, or even loved that much. Sigh... such a long rant. So sorry for the very long text. I'm just very annoyed with Sega myself.

I defeated Dark Ash by low kicking every time he walked near me... and I guess the AI broke or something since he just kept falling for that most of the time. A few times he will hit me and I get a time over, or spam the hell out of me and I die, but in the end I manage. Shion was by far one of the ONLY SNK bosses I've had fun with. I don't really think they could make someone as fun as Shion again without being so cheap or stupid. lol I sincerely hope he does return. As far as I remember, he's still alive. Maybe there's a chance that he will return.

Yeah I was wondering how many new characters will be introduced or if they're planning to just redesign the old characters. Some new ones would be cool, but preferably as original people and not replacements or copies. I'm not sure when it was that they last introduced new people who weren't bosses or from other games? KoF XI maybe? I honestly can't remember. Β I wasn't a huge fan of the new characters in MI, but I'm pretty confident SNK can do it right. They did it right with Ash and friends, maybe they'll pull it off again in XIV? Maybe there'll be a new story arc. Who knows?

I don't play either Sonic or Mario, so my knowledge on both are quite limited, but I've heard a million different complains about Sega and the direction of the Sonic franchise over the years. I played Sonic 06 at a friend's place (before I even knew how infamous it was) and it truly was terrible, and we only played the multiplayer mode. That was sadly probably my first experience with Sonic and let's just say it wasn't a good one. The worst I've heard about the Mario games is that they're repetitive, but nothing like the backlash Sonic gets. Sonic Boom pushed people over the edge, it seemed. I haven't heard much, but apparently the cartoon is alright? I'm not sure. I wish there'd be a great next gen Sonic title that made people happy again Β
It seems like Sega isn't very good at running with ideas. Jim Sterling talked about this in an episode of his show. He mentioned that instead of creating a Sonic game and continuing to iron out the flaws and faults of it in the next titles, they'd rather burn everything to the ground and begin a completely different game, with different gameplay and everything. He said that this has lead to the franchise being in disarray and confusion, as Sega doesn't take the time to run with a single idea and improve it over the course of future titles.Β
I agree that they should try some spin off games like the mario franchise? They've done them in the past, right? They should stick to making some sequals to previous games, like you said. Then they'd have something to work off.Β

Haha, yeah I know not many people want more Sonic, I think most are just sick of him by now. It's a shame to see developers pump out unwanted games when they should be listening to the fans. Seriously frustrating. Hopefully they'll listen for once? I'm not sure, I doubt it.
Lol don't apologise, it's fine. Get it all out, I say

I've heard about how infamous the SNK bosses are. It's true, really. They're mostly just full of spam and cheap attacks. Except Shion, because Shion is the shit. In one of the cutscenes in XIII, it shows him returning. I nearly fainted when I saw that. C'MON SNK BRING HIM BACK PLEEEASE

I think it was KoFXI. I'm not sure, either. Elisabeth first appeared in that game, right? If so, then it's that one, I'm pretty sure. I also prefer original characters from top to bottom. Meaning that, like you, I prefer if they were not replacements of the older characters. Like for example, we never had replacements of Chris, Shermie, and Yashiro, and they kept making original characters. Then again I suppose they were similar to Kyo, Daimon or whoever you say his name, and Benimaru, but that's only their Orochi forms, right? Their normal forms are completely original, and they still have that originality since no one else fights like them, gameplay and technique wise.

Honey... I'm so sorry that you went through that hellhole known as Sonic 06 as your very first Sonic experience. That's just... foul. I've also heard about that regarding the Mario series, and to be honest, I can't really blame them. It's not really just the gameplay that people say that, it's what usually happens. Who usually is the playable character, who usually gets kidnapped, who usually is the villain, that sort of thing. But yeah, it's not as large as what Sonic is getting. I'd much rather Sonic kept that kind of repetitiveness like Mario usually has, just as long as the games turn out good and fun. Sonic Boom definitely push people at that edge, but yeah, the cartoons and comics were decent, really. Not nearly as horrendous as the games. They're not really anything special, though, but I do find the Sonic Boom cartoon much better than that Sonic X cartoon. Ugh. Yeah they've definitely made a lot of spin-offs in the ways that Mario did it back then. As in utilizing a lot of the other characters as a huge focus or even the main focus while trying out different gameplay aspects instead of the usual run-and-jump as fast as possible the series is known for. Some were good, few were pretty bad, and most of them were decent. I thought that such a large variety they did added to the Sonic series' diversity and it made me love it even more. Unfortunately they don't really do that that often. Or maybe they do, but they try too damn hard and ultimately fail. lol

Well, here's to hoping for Shion's return overall. I should make my avatar the face of Ash Crimson or Shion. Probably won't, but I'll consider it. Funny that some of my most favorite KoF characters are androgynous. lol In any case, I just remembered something. Have you heard of the game called Xuan Dou Zhi Wang/King of Combat? It's an MMO fighting game made from China. As you may have already knew, China makes a lot of rip offs of many things. Well in King of Combat, the the gameplay is very much like KoF. Also, the majority of the characters are based heavily on many characters from KoF, whether by design or by gameplay and moves or by both design and gameplay. There are some original characters from top to bottom, though, and there are some other characters who are based heavily on characters from other fighting games such as Street Fighter. Despite being a rip-off, it actually does look a lot of fun, like KoF in my opinion. Anyways, the reason why I mentioned this is due to me saying that SNK did know that such a game existed, and even participated in it a bit by adding in Terry and Benimaru as playable characters. Though they were removed now since the contract of using such characters have ended, but I also mentioned this because due to SNK participating in the game themselves, I put King of Combat as one of the games that I had hope that SNK would make their visuals similar to in KoF14, which they didn't do... But King of Combat does look pretty to me. It looks like a 2.5D game. You should look at some screen shots or videos of the game to see what I'm talking about.

Ooh I really hope the New Face team makes a return. I know I've mentioned this before, but just aghhh .... I remember reading that Chris was a rival for Kyo in a fighting style way. It's true, really, because Shermie and Yashiro are rivals for Daemon and Beni too. I think that maybe Shermie's moves are a bit too similar to Beni's though? I suppose that's the point haha I'd really like to have a character in KoF who fights with the same speed and athletic precision as Chris, he was always just so fun to play as! We also don't really have any sole grabbing characters like Shermie. Of all the KoF people, I think they would be the best to return.Β

Wahh it was pretty awful ;-; I didn't get to play single player mode, thank God, but the multiplayer was enough for me. It was very boring and EXTREMELY unbalanced. Just an unfinished mess of a game. Yeah, Sonic hasn't had the time to become repetitive since it changes gameplay styles every single title. That's a serious problem, it just messes up and confuses the whole series. I can see Mario being repetitive, but at least the games can be considered good and finished at the least. I don't know if I've ever heard a critic panning a Mario game or hearing about an especially shitty Mario game ever, well maybe except for some of the Mario Party games, but even then. I'm glad that the show is good, at least something decent came out of that God awful mess of a game. I personally haven't seen it, mainly because I thought it would be awful due to the game. Guess I was wrong ^^Β

Same! I love all the androgynous characters in KoF. Shion, Ash, King, Saiki, Chris etc. Ash is probably my favourite character overall, but not my favourite to play as by a long shot. His 'charge' attacks are super annoying to activate, same with Leona. Funny you should mention that MMO game, I think I've heard of it or something similar? There's this spin off KoF game made by some publisher I don't know called King of Fighters online or something? It's an MMORPG game with KoF characters. I saw some gameplay on Youtube and decided to download it, but the site was in Thai or something and I ended up downloading a virus. I got rid of it, luckily, but the game still interests me. I'm curious if it's similar to the one you mentioned. It was similar to something like LOL or WOW if I remember correctly. It was quite a while ago, though, I wonder if it still exists?

I wish the New Face Team would make a return too, but all I ever see them returning in are dream match games. It's a shame that they pretty much has been offed so quickly. Like in only one game. They all of them are popular too.Β  They're actually one of my favorite teams. Yashiro's and Shermie are both hot while Chris is adorable.

Exactly. They are trying waaay too hard with Sonic, there. I'm pretty sure that many of us will not mind repetitiveness at all as long as the games are good, but they pretty much stopped that right after Sonic Rush Adventure. It's such a huge shame. Yeah, the Sonic Boom is fine. It's pretty much like your average cartoon, really. Not really anything special, but not really a bad thing, either. It's at least much better than that awful Sonic X cartoon. Ugh. All in all, the fans don't mind the Sonic Boom cartoon and comics that much, but the games? Oh boy, and the fact they are making a sequel to that awful game is just digging their own graves.

Oh, and a panned Mario game? I do remember playing one when I was much younger. It was Mario's Time Machine for the SNES. It's basically a learning game for children.... that asks some of the most ridiculously hard, extremely large. and impossible to answer ones that you pretty much would never see except in high school or college. I bought it before since I thought it was going to be the usual platformer. Boy, was I so damn wrong. >_>

Oh, yes the androgynous and "trap" characters are all very entertaining in KoF in my opinion, and I do love all the ones that you've said. Ash isn't my favorite gameplay wise either, but I just can't help but really like him personality wise. He's just so entertaining to me. I also do like how he fights even though he fights like that blue haired man from Street Fighter 3 (forgot his name) and even though I'm not really a fan of charge characters (which makes Saiki a welcome addition for myself since I can be more aggressive with him). I know the commands of charge characters are ridiculously easy, but it's the fact that I have to charge or hold down the buttons is what I'm not really a fan of. That actually makes me want to spam more. :s

Oh, no, not that MMO, but I do know what you're talking about. That MMO was being developed, but it was canceled in the end, or at least that's what I heard. It did look fun though. A shame... but anyways (lol), I'm talking about Xuan Dou Zhi Wang/King of Combat. It's a rip off of KoF. It's not a KoF game at all. It uses completely different characters except Benimaru and Terry, of which SNK let the developers of Xuan Dou Zhi Wang use in their game for a while. It's a 3vs3 fighting game just like KoF. It uses completely different characters design wise, but moves or fighting style wise, they are very similar to many KoF characters, with a few of the characters being similar to characters from other games like SF, and a few of them being completely original from top to bottom.

Yess Chris is soo cute and the others are awesome too. I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of them being in 3D, though. Seems a little strange. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this already, but both Chris and Shermie had cameos in XIII, so maybe that means they're alive? I can't spot Yashiro anywhere, though. I wonder why they didn't give him a cameo, despite being the leader of the team. Hopefully that's a sign that they'll return soon. I hope all the cameo characters in XIII return, including Shion because he was hinted at the strongest. Again, the idea of these characters being in 3D is a weird thought. I'm not sure how well they'll translate to the new style, and if the gameplay will change. I played KoF XI today, and it reminded me how much I love tag teams in fighting games. KoF does it pretty well, so they should bring that element back too !

Ahaha I've heard that Sonic X was good :') I've personally never seen it though. Maybe they're trying to redeem themselves with a new title? Sounds way too risky, though, especially since the last one was ass. Sometimes I wonder what these companies are thinking and if they're even self aware.

Oh yeah, I've heard of some educational Mario games. I didn't think of those haha I take it back, those are pretty awful, at least the ones I've seen. Also some of the recent Mario party games are supposed to be pretty lame? I'm not too sure

I agree w/ you on Ash. I love his personality and character, but I can't stand his fighting style. It's way too hard to use, imo. The charge attacks always get me, but I can usually withstand Leona's charge moves because she's pretty competent when it comes to basic close range melee, unlike Ash. Saiki is better imo because of this reason, he doesn't have charge attacks and he has decent melee. And he's pretty cool.Β

Hm I've never heard of King of Combat before you mentioned it Sounds strange. However I have seen gameplay for a 3D game that had Benimaru in it, and apparently it wasn't an official KoF game so I'm wondering if that was it? Is it being sold?Β

Oh, they did? Huh. I actually never knew that. I need to play XIII more. I would LOVE to see them again in the game, even though it was just cameos. And since what you said is true, then maybe they WILL actually return? I will be SO happy when that happens. I definitely hope all cameo return too. This includes Heidern. Speaking of returns, did you see the new KoFXIV trailer that showed Tung, Choi, and Chin? Tung finally appears in a KoF game, when all he appeared in was Fatal Fury and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum. I really don't like Choi, but even I think he looks cool in KoFXIV. No joke. You should check him out. Anyways, so Yashiro was never shown? Well that's odd, indeed. Don't leave out my damn Yashiro.

Sonic X was usually disliked from my experience. Especially regarding the main protagonist, Chris (lol another Chris), as many people find him incredibly obnoxious.

3D? Did it play like a 2D game? If it played like a 2D game overall, but looked 3D and had completely different characters that you've never seen in your life, and many of them speak Chinese, then yeah. That's the one I'm talking about, I believe.

By the way, I apologize for the late replies. It's been storming BIG time here, and my computer sucks. Those two do not mix well, of course.

Yeah, they had cameos, as well as Vanessa, Blue Mary (I think), B. Jennet, Seth, Ramon, Rugal, Hinako, Xianfei and a bunch of others I don't really recognise. It would be awesome to see them all come back, but something tells me that if Chris and those guys are in the new game, they'll be revealed at the very last second I think. I had a look at the new KoF XIV characters and ... well, they look alright, but I've never been a big fan of any of them. Tung appeared in KoF XI I never played as him though lol. Yeah, Yashiro was never shown. I wonder why Hopefully he'll return too, I mean he has to.Β

Haha I've never seen it, or any other Sonic cartoon. I've only played a few of the shitty games. I saw a new Sonic game in a gaming shop today called Shattered crystal or something. It was for the 3DS and looked unnervingly like Sonic Boom :c

I actually don't know, or at least I don't remember ... but it looked better than the official kof xiv lol I only remember seeing Benimaru's win pose, and yeah it was a 3D one on one fighting game

No problem, I've been busy from exams too XD

Oh yes, I remember seeing a TON of cameos in the women's team ending. That was fun. lol I also did see Whip in the Ikari's team ending. So many cameos. SNK sure loves utilizing characters in that fashion. And I completely forgot that Tung did indeed appear in KoFXI. How forgetful I am. I'm not a fan of any of them either, but it was nice to see Tung and Chin again, as I do like them. I could care less about Choi, but I thought he looked cool in KoFXIV, which surprised me. If SNK does reveal the New Face Team at the very last moment, then I guess that's rather smart, since they are actually VERY popular despite only being in one main game.... and then supposedly dying in that very same game. lol Well since Iori got his powers back, maybe they'll return in some form or fashion like Vice and Mature again, and cause both him and Leona trouble again. Or something.

Yeah... please don't play that game. That is indeed Sonic Boom, and it's also bad. lol Not as bad as the Wii U game, Rise of the Lyrics or whatever, but pretty darn close, which is... not a good thing.

Hm. If you saw him in his usual attire, then that is definitely the game I'm talking about. Yes, Xuan Dou Zhi Wang looks a lot better than KoFXIV (so far), and I wished that SNK made their visulas like that game since they did involve themselves in that game a little by giving those Chinese developers permission to add in Terry and Benimaru.

Oh I see. I forgot school was back. I wanted to go to an art university, but it was so expensive, so I just decided to look up how to draw and paint and just go from there. lol In the meantime, I'm just looking for a job. About to become one of those people who constantly travels and writes those guidebooks for people to know where to go when they go traveling themselves. Sounds tedious, but it's a lot better than the last job I had, which was basically me sleeping. It's totally a lot more difficult than it seems. Get paid to sleep. Sounds awesome, right? Ugh, I wish. As you know, it's a job, and jobs are not fun. This job required me to sleep VERY constantly, which is very hard to do in my opinion, as it is also very unhealthy to do, and rather painful and tiring itself to me since I had to do it so very often in the middle of the day. I also often had to sleep with other people like a cuddle buddy. Of COURSE the people I slept with snored VERY loudly, constantly tossed and turned (thus hitting me often), drooled near me, stunk, passed gas WHILE sleeping quite often, etc... I couldn't bear it. It was horrible. The money was REALLY good. You get paid a lot, but I really couldn't bear it, anymore. Goodness, I'd rather be one of the people who cleans up crime scenes for the police or whatever after they are done investigating, despite how much I don't really like the police and I often hear that this sort of job will probably ruin you mentally.

Yeah, so many cameos in that game, especially in the team endings. I remember loving Iori's ending, where he claimed his fire again and left to challenge Kyo. The music reminded me of spiderman, but it was cool anyways x3 The final scene with Ash made me cry so hard, especially the aftermath cutscene where it showed him being deleted from history. The soundtrack was absolutely heartbreaking imo I had no idea how Mature and Vice managed to come back from the dead. I assume it has something to do with Orochi resurrecting them as ghosts maybe? If so, then why doesn't he bring back his heavenly kings ?? Cmon Orochi get on itΒ
It would be pretty cool to see Iori and Leona enter riot of blood again, I quite liked the mechanic in the old games where you could activate it mid battle

Oh I haven't heard anything about it o.o But I can't say I'm surprised to hear that it's bad. I guess it's not causing as much of an uproar as rise of lyric? HmΒ

Yeah I remember thinking it was the new kof xiv game, and got really hyped before learning that it wasn't at all. By God, the Fatal Fury pachinkos look better than the official game!Β

I have to look for a job too :c I hate working ughh ...... Thank god I'm off school now for a couple weeks. You had a job where you got paid to sleep? What on earth kind of job was that? Speaking of bad sleeping habits, I used to talk in my sleep and I sleep walked once as well >.> I woke up in my mom's bed. Super trippy

You're off school for a couple weeks? Well, I apologize for my late reply, dear.

I will flat out chuckle if I had someone near me that talked in their sleep. I won't be able to sleep myself since I'd be laughing so much, but yeah. lol I hated my job as sleeping near ridiculous strangers. You get paid a lot for it, but it is literal torture and hell. "Oh, you get paid just for sleeping? Sounds awesome" is what my friends often tell me, but that's the same damn mindset that people have regarding porn. "Oh you get paid just for having sex? Score!". >_>

lol Spiderman music. But uuuugh, don't remind me. When it showed that scene regarding Ash, that was so cruel. So so very cruel. Oh, and when he was little along with Elizabeth, but then disappeared while young Elizabeth was alone.... T___T I teared up a little. Much worse than death. Much, much worse. The music got to me too. How dare the game say "All's right with the world" after his demise. I suppose in a way it was since it prevented what Saiki was gonna do, but Ash...

Well, anyways, have you seen the new KoF trailers? The 9th one showed Athena (who looked nice, I must say) and two new characters; Luong and Nelson( who looked pretty cool), while the 10th one showed Ryo and, surprisingly, Geese. o_o Look at SNK bringing back old characters who were supposed to be dead at this point. I also saw Joe Higashi for a moment there as one of the characters that Geese demonstrated one of his counters on, so that shows that he's playable as well. Wonder if Mai will return as well. Hopefully.

Dw that's fine Take your timeΒ

Yeah I've laughed when hearing people talk in their sleep, too. It's usually hard to understand what they're saying though. It's typically just incoherent mumblings, but I've always had a worry that one night I'll say something or admit something embarrassing in my sleep and someone will hear it >.> As much as I love sleeping, I'm not sure if I could do it constantly. I like getting up early so I have more time to do stuff during the day

Everytime I watch that scene I cry So cruel how it shows the world without Ash, I feel so sorry for him and Elisabeth. She still has his headband though, so hopefully she manages to rememeber him. It would be interesting if she returned in the XIV and was searching for the owner of the headband, I'd love to see her return. Unlikely that Ash or Saiki are going to come back, so I just hope that some other characters from the Ash saga like Shen or Duo lon make it in the game

I just went and watched them all, it's starting too look way more fleshed out and better designed. The graphics are beginning to look better, too ! I'm so glad Vice is in it, but where's Mature? :c The new characters look a little weird ... like that strange blonde loli girl called Sylvie or something ... Not sure how I feel about them, but hopefully they'll be fun to play as I'm still hoping for the new face team, Shion and Vanessa. Whip would be cool too. So far there aren't THAT many characters confirmed in the game that I'm huge fan of, but oh well XD I'm probably just being pickyΒ
