Description Commission for of her character, Sul-Aranel.

MUCH better scan. The old scanner drowned out the colors and details so bad |D This one made the wings a little grayer than they should be in parts, but I think that's just the shadow that seems to somehow end up on all of my drawings from the scanner x.x It's still not as bad as completely destroying all color and detail in the wings though lol

I added a few things since the last scan, like a new plant to the left side on the closest mountain, a bit of green shading in the closer mountain to the back left, mostly to help balance the color green some since I thought it was a bit out of place with it only being on the right side. I also shaded some of the face with some blue in the black where I forgot to earlier and it kinda didn't seem to connect with the rest of the black as much.

I really like how this one came out I was a little unsure how it was going to come out for a while, especially before adding the bg, it looked too monotone to me, so I made the background a bit livelier with more colors, and it really helped ^^

Ok, materials: The character is done only with Prismacolor colored pencils, and the background is mainly regular watercolors, with some colored pencil added for detail, mainly on the rocks/plants.

I know this has some anatomy/perspective faults, so please no critique unless you are the commissioner c:

Jeeeeez beb this is GORGEOUS! I stared at that lovely fur for AGES! It's so long and lovely and flowy and so details and ARGH it's so amazing!! There are so many COLORS to look amajoroneofthosebeingblueSHOT. The background is so GOOOOORGEOUS ;A;. The clouds and sky are all pretty and water color-y hngh and the mountains and just WOW. There's so much detail in the feathers and the fur and as;kjvsldfhjv EVERYWHERE. Ugh SUCH an amazing job! <33333

You're doing really nice work with textures now. The fur and feathers both look quite touchable. I love the thin mountains in back... you don't see much ofthem, but I think they add lovely height to the drawing.

And yeah, you don't see many thin, tall mountains xD I wanted it to kind of have a feel of flying in between mountain spires though, so that's why I made them thinner and not so wide like I usually do

Fluffy fur is fun to color. ouo Can get a little confusing though when you use weird poses like me xD But I swear, if I don't do a semi-interesting pose at least, I get bored with it sometimes Cx

yeah, it's hard for me to come up with any poses. they usually turn out looking really ordinary, so i try to do a good job with coloring just to make up for it
but this pic has the pose and awesome coloring all wrapped up i love it!

It's getting kinda hard for me too, since I've used so many already, and I'm sure I've done nearly the same pose more than once before too xD If I'm really out of ideas I may even go in the deep depths of my gallery and redo an old pose I failed before, or search around dA for some inspiration or ideas.

The first time I scanned this, it was like that, washed out colors and hardly any details showed up, so sometimes it depends on the scanner, or a restoration program. I use Picasa to try to get back some of what the scanner lost, and it helps a lot in most cases though in this case, it was the scanner since both computers I used had picasa on them and only my scanner was able to get the colors and details better.

Welcome And yep, it's completely free Here's a link, all you have to do is download it ^^ [link] And don't worry, it's safe too, software by Google. I've never had any problems with it, and I'm really cautious of what I download xD
It's originally for photos, but works wonders for art, I've been using it for years
