Description The Lernaean Hydra or Hydra of Lerna was a gigantic serpent with many heads (one of which was immortal) in Greek mythology. The Hydra was the offspring of Typhon and Echidna. Any attempt to behead the monster resulted in two heads sprouting in its place. Hercules was ultimately responsible for the creature’s demise.
