Description
And now for something completely different...
There is a job wiggling it's way through the shop, (yes, I do have a day job) which promises to be lots of fun.
A tech company in San Francisco hired us to produce these blocks. The general plan is to hand these to their employees, and the employees will paint/draw/create a picture on the blocks. The blocks will be returned to us, sprayed with a protective clear coat, and then I get to go install these in one of their cafes. All 350 blocks! BTW, each block is 5 x 5 x 1 1/2 inch (12.7 x 12.7 x 3.8 cm) red oak.
They can't have all the fun. I snagged a rejected block, and here's the result.

Thanks! There were several new things this drawing. Just taking the photo took several tries.

That's an interesting idea... I'll have to wait a couple of months to see.
I'm curious if somebody will try to run the wood through their printer...

Give then some un-laminated pieces of plywood and they just might try.
