It just seemed like abit of a dark message, at least that's how I seen it. Not too dark though, it's a great piece.

Because the girl not only looks sad, but the title "girl beneath heavy armour" seemed like a metaphor for keeping up appearances and holding a guarded front. Then the horns, almost demonic, in contrast to her pretty and innocent face says to me she's got a few demons within her, but still deserves love and respect. There is both fragility and strength coming from her.
That's just my interpretation though, and I'm usually way off from artists intentions.

Ha ha I assure you I am not. I spend a lot of time in my local arts cafe's and I never get onto what they are expressing, all seems like conceptual BS to me!
After you expressing how well I described your created it actually gave me more confidence believe it or not, especially as and poet asked me to create an image for one of his poems and believes the image I created was bang on the money..... although it's a bit too dark and explicit for me to really up on my account. The image isn't even uploaded to his poem yet, but the poem is below.

Wirklich sehr ausdrucksstark und schöne Farbwahl. Das "weiche" Gesicht ist ein guter Kontrast zur "harten" Rüstung, aber die groben Haarsträhnen stören die Harmonie des Bildes etwas.

nicht unbedingt zu dick, sondern die Strähnen an sich, ich mein eher die harte Textur der Haare, besonders am Haaransatz; Könnte mir vorstellen, dass es noch besser passen würde wenn die Haare etwas weniger herausstechen würden &ansatzweise so sanft coloriert wären wie das Gesicht
