Description

Tears were streaming down her face as she ran through the woods. (H/l) (h/c) hair blew in the wind as she ran. She had to keep running. Keep running. Keep running. Nothing processed in her mind as she ran through the forest. Just keep running. Can't stop. Keep running. He'll catch you if you stop. Keep going. The edge of the forest drew close. She could make it out. Just keep running.

Bursting out of the tall trees, sharp (e/c) orbs caught sight of a house. She ran to the house as quickly as her tired legs would take her. Running up the porch steps she tried the door. It was locked. Panic filled her body as she began to bang on the door, in hopes that someone would hear her.

She keep banging until the door opened. A tall man stared down at her with an annoyed expression.

"P-please, sir! H-help me!" Tears continued to stream from her terrified eyes.

"What's wrong?" The tall man questioned, cautiously.

"A-a man is chasing me and I don't know what to or where to go!" Her legs shook underneath her as she quickly explained her situation.

The man looked around and hurriedly let the shaking girl in. Once she entered she collapsed on the floor unconscious from exhaustion.

He quickly caught her before she could hit her head. Looking at the young girl in his arms worriedly he called out to another person.

"Kayla! Come here, quick!"

A Brunette woman rushed into the foyer where she saw her boyfriend holding an unconscious girl. Hurriedly, she rushed over and knelt next to the two.

"Logan, what happened?? Is she alright? Who is she?" The Questions flew out of the woman's mouth a mile a minute.

"I'm not sure. She was the one pounding on the door. She told me someone was chasing her and she didn't know what to do. I let her in and she collapsed." He filled the woman, by the name of Kayla, in.

"Put her on the couch. I'll get some water and a wash clothe." Kayla instructed and hurried out of the room to get said items.

He did as he was told and carefully set the unconscious girl on the sofa. Where did this girl come from? Who was chasing her? Why was this person chasing her? Is she being hunted down? Why would someone be hunting her? All these questions and more swirled around the man's mind. The sound of quick footsteps brought him back to reality.

Kayla had returned with a cold wash clothe and gently set it on the girl's forehead.

"I guess we'll just have to wait until she wakes up to ask her any questions." He sighed.

"Yeah... I wonder what happened her.." The brunette sighed as well. "For now let's eat while we wait. Lunch is ready."

Nodding Logan stood up. His kept a sharp eye and ear out for any intruders and the two went to the kitchen to eat.

~~~~~~~~~~
A groan filled the room as the (h/c) haired girl started to come back to consciousness. She squinted at the brightness of the light that filled her vision. Squeezing them shut for a moment, she opened her eyes again. As her vision focused, she observed her surroundings.
she was in a quaint living room with cream walls and a nice oak wood floor. A few pictures hung on the wall in an appealing fashion. A coffee table sat in-front of the couch as well as an arm chair to it's right.
How did she get here?
Memories of what happened her mind. Her eyes stung as tears started to form. Why did this have to happen? Why-?
"I see you've finally woken up." A gentle feminine voice reached the girl's ears.
Whipping her head around she saw a beautiful woman with Brown hair and hazel-brown eyes. The woman sat in the arm chair and smiled softly at the girl.
"How are you feeling?"
"F-fine I suppose..." The young girl avoided eye contact with the woman.
"That's good." She smiled. "My name is Kayla. What's yours?"
"...(y/n)..."
Kayla's smile grew. "That's a pretty name."
A small smile made it's way onto (y/n)'s lips. "Thank you."
Just then, the tall man from earlier entered the room.
"Good to see you're awake." He nodded, as a sort of greeting.
"(Y/n), this is Logan. Logan, (y/n)." Kayla introduced the two to each other.
(y/n) waved a little at said man.
"So, um, (y/n). I know this might be a little soon to ask, but what happened to you? Why were you running from someone?" Kayla's orbs glistened with curiosity and worry.
The girl's gaze found the floor as tears pricked at her eyes. ".... He killed them..."
The couple's eyes widen. Who killed who?
"Who was killed?" Kayla questioned.
".... My family. H-he burned down our house... They didn't make it..." (Y/n)'s voice was barely above a whisper as tears fell from her (e/c) hues.
"Who killed them?" Logan demanded.
"I don't know! I only saw his silhouette!" The girl cried, burying her face in her hands.
Kayla got up and hugged the crying girl tightly and looked at Logan.
What should they do? They could take her to an orphanage, but the ones near by were pretty bad. Maybe they could just keep her for a little bit. Figure out something during the week. It didn't seem like her pursuer was actually chasing her anymore. And even if he was they could probably take him down, whoever he was.
"Well you can stay with us for a little. At least for now." The brunette smiled kindly at (y/n).
Wiping her eyes, she nodded a bit. "Th-thank you."
"You're welcome. Dinner will be ready in about an hour."
After making sure their guest was situated the couple headed to the kitchen.
"Why did you invite a stranger to stay?" Logan asked, slightly annoyed that the girl was going to be staying.
"Because she doesn't have anywhere to go." Kayla calmly replied.
"What about the orphanage?"
"You know the orphanages near by are terrible." She sent him a small glare.
"Well what are we supposed to do? Adopt her?"
His eyes widened a little upon seeing his girlfriends grin. He knew that look.
"No. No, no, no, no, no. We are not adopting a kid. Much less a stranger, who could very well be lying about her whole situation."
"Logan, she's not lying."
"How do you know?"
"I can see it in her eyes, trust me."
"We're still not adopting her."
"Oh come on, Honey. Wouldn't it be nice to have a kid? She seems to be about twelve or thirteen."
"No. I don't want to have to deal with a kid. Not now at least."
"But, Logaaaannnn."
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Come on, you know you want to."
Oh no... Here comes the puppy eyes. Just don't look at her face. Don't do it.
He did it. He looked straight into Kayla's eyes.
He groaned in defeat. "Fine. Maybe we can look into it."
She fist-bumped the air in victory. "Yes!"
"Just because we're considering doesn't mean we will. We most likely won't." He reminded.
~~~~~~~~~~

Well... Here they were... Driving back from adopting (y/n).... Completely unlike what Logan originally said.

You see, (Y/n) ended up staying for a few weeks longer then expected and during that time Logan had grow quite attached to the girl. She had also grown quite attached to him. So with that he and Kayla ended up adopting her.

Upon arriving home the three had a small celebration and a couple of movie marathons before it was finally time to say goodnight and get a good nights rets.

During the middle of the night though, (y/n) began to toss and turn. Fire and smokes danced in her vision. Screams and cries for help filled ever ounce of her hearing. She was rooted to the ground. Her body wouldn't move. All she could do was watch helplessly as her house burned before her again. A familiar wetness dampened her face as she watched. Why couldn't she move?? Why wouldn't it stop? Why could she not-?

Her eyes snapped open and she shot up, gasping for breathe.

"(Y/n)! Are you alright??" Logan's worried eyes locked onto hers.

Huh. When did he get there? At that point she really didn't care for an answer. She immediately hugged him, crying into his shoulder. He gently hugged her back rocking her back and forth.

"Hey, there. It's okay. It was just a nightmare." He cooed. Yes, he cooed. Surprising right?

"I-I was there again... The fire... Why won't it go away?" She cried more.

"Shhh. It's just in your mind. It won't happen again."

After about fifteen minutes or so, (y/n) began to calm down. Logan rubbed her back as she started to fall asleep again.

"Thank you, Logan.... For taking me in."

He smiled a little. "You're welcome, (y/n)."

Soon after (y/n) fell asleep. Logan gently moved a few strands of (h/c) hair out of her face and placed a fatherly kiss on her forehead.

"Don't worry, (Y/n). Here with Kayla and I, you're completely safe and sound."

                                                                                             The End.
