If you ever dress up like a clown there are some guideline to follow. Never use bright bold colors, which you didn't do and that's good. Bright bold colors scare kids. Second, professional clowns never put make up on the upper lip.

I don't dress as a clown around kids. I go to The Devil's Carnival...which is dark, as you can probably tell from the title. Even the idea behind my character is morbid. I'm not looking to be a professional clown and entertain kids. My clown costuming is solely for my own and adult enjoyment. No kids.

If you're looking for a scary clown still follow the rules, just use blood red or black, i guess. I am a killer clown at a local Halloween walk-through. I hate the people who do the make up up there, They didn't even put eye brows on the other clowns. A disgrace to halloween walk-throughs

Thanks but I'm going to be leaving my clowning up to my own creativity. I'm not really looking to follow any "professional clown" rules.
