it's hand-drawn, and it's usually called a trail. i usually use the line tool for my trails.

There is a way to make your animation blur,you have to convert objects to "movie clip" by pressing F8...Then in Properties option,it's allow you to do the blur,shadow or any effects...

I think some of the movements could of used more easing out, specifically the frames after the dash sort of move.
