Description
Athena and Bojay Lingam were the humble husband/wife crew of an airspeeder on Coruscant. Working a large cargo yard, they spent their days flying their T-47 airspeeder, moving cargo pods and towing repulsor sleds. However, when the empire nationalized their employer and replaced many of the organic cargo handlers with droids, Athena and Bojay were understandably furious. They sold many of their worldly possessions, and left Coruscant to join the Rebel Alliance. Their talents with flying the T-47 airspeeder became of major interest to the Rebels. Athena and Bojay were quite familiar with the T-47's systems, having spent many long hours fixing their own T-47. When the question of how to adapt it to the cold on Hoth, the Rebels consulted Athena and Bojay, who gave them quite a few ideas. After the success of the "Snowspeeder", Athena and Bojay were assigned to an anti-imperial operation on the desert planet of Tatooine. Rebels operating on Tatooine had long used the T-16 skyhopper as their main air combat vehicle, but had long desired to replace it with the T-47, which was arguably more durable. Athena and Bojay easily modified the T-47 to function perfectly well in the harsh heat of Tatooine. Though the Tatooine operation was only a raid, the new "Sandspeeder" was such a success that the Rebel Alliance adapted other T-47's into sandspeeders for operations on other desert planets.
