Oh thank you very much

HAve you read "A Great and Terrible Beauty?"

These characters are from that book

You're welcome it's really sweet. Btw, I can't belive I made the first comment, there are so many Libba Bray fans out here and they haven't seen this one yet! crazy!

Yes! I just finished the book today, and loved it, can't wait for "Rebel Angels" to arrive at my mailbox (should have order it sooner...), I have to know what happens next!

I have to ask,is this a scene from one of the next books or you invented it? I'm just asking so I can prepare my heart for it,if Kartik says "I love you" to her and I'm not prepared I don't think I can handle it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-02 20:48:35 +0000 UTC]

Well, I did actually make this scene up XDDD, but yeah, I'm pretty sure he does say it to her somewhere in the third book, (there's not alot of him in the second )

I think he dances with her in the second XDD. It's SOOOO adorable!!

Hehe, sorry for my lack of memory, I haven't read it in like, 1 1/2 years

It's such a good series!! But you're going to hate the end, the ending will make you wanna throw the book at the wall XDDD

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-02 21:38:56 +0000 UTC]

Well...I think I know what you mean about the end...I've been spoiled by some (great)fanart, I don't mind actually, I was the one who came looking for it, so I'm the only one to blame... even so...I have to read the "in between", I think I can save all my anger to the end, I let you know if the book(s) gets thrown into something

They dance? now that I have to see*read*!!

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-02 21:52:40 +0000 UTC]

Yes!! It's so so so cute!!

The third book is about 800 pages or so, it takes a while to read it. Especially when there's those boring scenes without Kartik XDDD, and you skim a couple pages ahead to see how much longer it takes until there's a part with Kartik XDDD, yup, that book was torturous.

Have you ever read "The Luxe"? You'd probably like that series if you like this one ^^, that and "Bewitching Season".

Right now I'm still waiting for the sixth book of "Vampire Academy" to come out and the eighth book to the "Marked" series

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-02 22:18:48 +0000 UTC]

Can't wait! I think I'm just going to order the third one right now, because I have a feeling the second one is going to fly right through my fingers and then I'll be just as I am now: craving! I hadn't noticed the last one was 800 pages long!
You had me laughing out loud for a while now, when you said "and you skim a couple pages ahead to see how much longer it takes until there's a part with Kartik" I did that with the first one! and then I would see his name and keep thinking, "go on, it's just a few more pages!" it's shameful really -->

Thank you so much for these recomendations, I'm going to look for them. So you like Vampire Academy? I've been fighting to buy the first book for a long time now, can't make up my mind...to read or not to read, that is the question

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-02 22:55:27 +0000 UTC]

Aha yeah! And you're not really thinking about what you're reading until Kartik comes up and then you're like, "HAHA! Wait...how did it lead up to this?" so you have to go back and actually read the pages instead of thinking about Kartik the whole time XDDD.

And yes!! I thought the same thing when I read the first Vampire Academy (cuz you know, all the knock-off vampire books after Twilight), but I decided to read the second one and I just couldn't stop, it was soooo good!! The first one is typical, but all the other one's are just soooo great!! There's so many surprises and twists and it's one of those books where you don't have to skip pages to see if Dimitri (the awesome guy) comes!! (well, except in the fourth book)

And it's not typical love triangle like Jacob/Edward, it's just a great series that doesn't have to try really hard. It has a good mix of action and romance ^^. Kind of like the "Hunger Games", that's also one of the best series I've read!!

I would give you a summary of the Hunger Games but I think my summaries are getting a bit long, here XDD

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-03 10:09:53 +0000 UTC]

Yes, my hesitation about getting into the Vampire Academy fever is because I'm afraid it will be another Twilight look-alike, and one Twilight was enough for me, but I think you're starting to convince me.
The Hunger Games series are on my wishlist, I've hear/read lots of great reviews of it!

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-18 18:40:18 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh yes!! It's veryyyyy good!! It's like a survivor love story *u*

Though my favorite series was Uglies. Definitely. Have you heard of it?

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-18 20:36:07 +0000 UTC]

You have an amazing sense of timing Katara, can you believe I just finished - like 10 minutes ago - The Sweet Far Thing? The last time I commented here I was waiting for my copies to arrive...oh, I was so happy with the story then...Libba broke my heart, she did... can't say I didn't know any better, because I did...but it was so sad to actually read it...

Uglies, yes I've heard about it, I think I've even read a couple of reviews, you recommend? Btw I already have The Hunger Games, maybe I'll start reading it today, I need something to cheer me up

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-18 20:49:17 +0000 UTC]

Hunger Games will definitely cheer you up!! It's such an adrenaline-packed series!!

Oh, I know, I went into a pit of misery after I read it, it was so sad. I mean, I never would've thought Kartik would turn into a tree , and I was like, "Awwww....I can;t believe this!!"

It's exactly like the Luxe series

And yes, Uglies is probably the best series I've read. It's such a unique and imaginitive world, like Harry Potter , I couldn't stop reading it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-18 22:40:04 +0000 UTC]

yeah...pit of misery...that's exactly where I am right now I've read around a few people saying "oh, it was sad, of course, but that gives the series a much more proper ending, because happy endings aren't original... blablabla" it makes me sick! how can that be? I didn't expect a "and they fixed the realms, ran away together, get married and had a lot of children. the end." now, that would have been tacky and definitely not original, but this? this: there you go Gemma, you can have this tree, your dreams, an a college degree. yeah...pit of misery.

So you're telling me the Luxe ends badly too? oh no...

I'll check Uglies out, thanks for mentioning , thank the heavens Book Depository is currently with a promotion

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-18 22:50:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, for me it did XDDD, But there were some good parts in it too . Like how penelope totally got stood up!! that was so funny.

And yes, the least they could've done was atleast NOT turn him into a tree!! Anything else would've been fine (Well, except him dying) XDDD.

Harry potter had a happy ending where they get married and everything...I don't see why it's so bad XDDD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-19 20:04:57 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, the happy ending worked fine for Harry Potter, it was so much fun to read XD I was /am a big Ron+Hermione shipper

Okay then, I'm giving The Luxe a chance, I put it on my wishlist when you told me about it, and I really liked the reviews I read about the series, but now I've been warned that it will break my heart just like The Sweet Far Thing

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-21 00:35:43 +0000 UTC]

Yup it will, but you'll get over it XDDDD after you read a couple other books. I really like the characters in "The Luxe" they have so much depth and personality.

Unlike bland, boring, Bella. Ugh.

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-21 01:16:42 +0000 UTC]

Tell me about it...I actually just came from the movies, me and my girls went to see Eclipse -it's tradition, everytime a new Twilight move comes out, we go and have a good laugh watching it- and I tell you, I had forgotten how stupid Bella is, and in Eclipse she reaches a whole new level of stupidity. I wish I could slap her face, just once, and I would be happy.

I'll let you know when I read another of these suggestions, so we can gossip a bit more (even if this is the Kartik and Gemma piece -sorry guys, you just keep loving each other in your dreams while I and Katara chat )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-21 01:22:06 +0000 UTC]

Haha yeah ^^, I don't think they mind they probably eavesdrop about how interesting this conversation is .

Ugh. I'm gonna go see Eclipse with my mom, she LOVES those movies, and she's willing to go and go see it again with me . If only she read the books, XDDD.

Did you know Stephanie Meyers actually uses the word "handsomer" in her book? How is that even right?????

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jen7waters In reply to KataraBri [2010-07-21 11:18:52 +0000 UTC]

Handsomer? Well english is not my native language but, upon my word, I have never heard "handsomer" before...maybe she's trying to add new words to the dictionary

Good luck then, try not to scream in the middle of movie "YOU STUPID, STUPID GIRL!!!" (Eclipse makes sick because Bella is in that omg-I-love-them-both mode which drives me crazy) It's for the mom, so you have to go and watch it, and be good

KataraBri In reply to Jen7waters [2010-07-23 02:14:24 +0000 UTC]

I know she's already seen it though but I still think I should criticize it for her XDDDD.

It just teaches kids the wrong lesson. I mean, Bella almost kills herself and shuts out the world cuz her "couple months" boyfriend dumped her. And it also influences teenage pregnancy!!

I swear, divorce rates will be triple then what it is now for our generation
