Woo it’s done
Probably could of spent more time on the background Oh well, I’m still happy with how it turned out ^^
This is an entry for a DTA for this cutie~ www.deviantart.com/art/Draw-to…
If I do win her, I’ll use her in my comic, Lucid (I’m working on updates now, heh sorry for such a long wait )
So the following is a story/concept for that. Guess it’s kind of spoilers, but then again, this scene/idea is based on if I get this character or not, and it can always change. So read at your own risk haha
Aurora could not sleep. She could feel someone in the shadows, as if someone was watching them, but both Mira and Snowdrop seemed unaware of the presents. They both slept peacefully, a sight Aurora had rarely seen. Usually they tossed and turned, plagued with the nightmares that Aurora herself never received.
Clink. The noise sounded from nearby, almost like two glasses clicking. It was quickly followed by paw steps receding farther into the cave. Someone had been watching them.
Before Aurora could even give it a second thought, she jumped up and raced after the noise. The cave was barely lite, some of the setting sun peeked through the holes in the walls here and there, but it was just enough for Aurora to see her own paws, let alone the paws of who she pursued. She knew it was crazy to chase someone farther into a cave that she was unfamiliar with no idea of who she was chasing.
Oddly enough as well, she didn’t feel fear, but curiosity. She had no worries anymore that the one she was chasing was going to hurt her in any way.
Then the sounds stopped. Aurora skidded to her own stop, and gingerly turned around the bend.
Up on rocky ledge leading into another darker tunnel was a creature Aurora had never seen before. It stood looking at her, and even with it’s eyes closed, Aurora could tell that it somehow knew she was there.
Aurora stood silent as the sun set. As soon as it disappeared from view, a bright light flashed from the window, making Aurora turn away and close her eyes.
When she opened them again, she blinked a few times, shocked at the sight before her.
Crystals replaced the dull stalactites and stalagmites and the whole tunnel seemed to be glowing. The creature changed as well, it’s eyes now opened and staring at Aurora intently.
Aurora suddenly felt self-conscious, and shuffled her paws nervously. It was like she intruded on some ritual, and she was now unsure if the creature was angry that it was followed. That was when Aurora noticed her necklace glowing, and rising off her chest. She gasped and took a step back, causing the little dream catcher to dull and fall softly back on her fur.
“Welcome.” The creature suddenly spoke, breaking the soft sounds of glass clicking. “Welcome to the Cathedral Of Dreams.”
“The what?” Aurora asked in awe.
“It’s nice to finally meet you Aurora.”
“How do you know my name?”
“I know a lot of things. Come.”
The creature bounced off done the tunnel hall, disappearing from sight. Aurora stood for a moment more, mouth hanging open in prospect of asking a question. She quickly shook it off and climbed up after the creature. She didn’t have to go far before she arrived in a large cave, where light bounced off the crystals that were everywhere. Few were dimmed and cracked, almost glowing an eerie black, but they were nothing to the light. The creature was there, with her back turned to Aurora.
“Dream Catcher would have wanted you to see these caves of dreams,” the creature sighed, “And I have longed to see them like this again.”
Aurora cautiously padded up to the creature and sat down next to her. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, these caves haven’t glowed since Dream Catcher’s disappearance. I’ve been able to make the crystal’s appear a certain ways around me, but nothing like this.”
“So I caused this?”
The creature nodded, looking longingly at the shards. Suddenly, as if broken out of a spell, the creature turned to Aurora and smiled warmly.
“Sorry for being so rude, I’m Speculari, the Guardian of the Cathedral of Dreams.”
Aurora returned the smile, “And you already know who I am. How is that?”
“Isn’t it obvious? You are obviously the child of the prophecies, the Aurora,” Speculari smiled even wider, “Only the return of a source of dream light could make the caves glow like this.”
“Aurora!” Aurora turned back to the sound of the voice, and the paw steps approaching. It sounded like Snowdrop and Mira were coming for her.
Aurora turned to Speculari, who looked nervous and rose quickly, looking as if she would run. Her gaze caught Aurora’s and she calmed at Aurora’s unworried face.
But as soon as the shadows of Snowdrop and Mira appeared in the tunnel, Speculari took off, bouncing on the crystals with ease. She was out of sight when Aurora’s friends came in.
