Description
Of wet tin roofs and shiny cobbles
A dark night sky with stormy weather

The hooves that clatter, the slipper-slapper
A crack-a-black strap whip of leather

With traps that snap a quicker-clapper
Hung cages rock while wood wheels clatter

And rats, that scamper, pitter-patter
Escape to darkened ditch or gutter

From window high there starts a mutter
Small faces peek through rusty shutters

Eyes wide with fear the children whisper;

"Look out! Look out! Here comes The Catcher!"

Don't think I'm going to use the literature section here on DA anymore, cos it seems the preview picture that is displayed with any story/poem is tiny, and most of my writing is just as much about the art as the words so I think I'll just stick to popping writing in descriptions... even if nobody reads it.

Anyway, this was a digital splodge picture I painted last night, which as the face came through I wrote down odd words as they came to mind.. by the end of the painting I'd written the above poem... I'm pretty pleased with both, although it doesn't feel like I really wrote/painted it... it just kind of happened! ... maybe I was channeling the spirit of the kiddie snatcher from chitty-chitty-bang-bang
