Yeh so true. I do it for them, myself and the fans! their story is amazing-tender despite being heartbreaking-tragic also.
And there's no way Luke and Leia existance was born out of nothing, no, Lucas didn't spend years of dedication to tell this story to not being meaningful.
It is as meaningful today as the day Lucas thought about them.

Exactly! I think they're so under appreciated. I personally adore the prequels and like them possibly more than the OT. There's something just really compelling about their story to me. Anyway- you're an excellent artist. I'm trying to learn how to draw humans but it's so difficult to learn. Got any tips on where to start?

Yes, I agree with you. However, I can understand why they are under appreciated, their story is quite complicated and most peeps don't like tragic stories, me neither but my case is different, I never expected them to end that way since I first saw the PT, so to me they are especial no matter what.
And well, thank you! Yeh, I know that feeling heh is difficult.
Ok, where to start? I'd say "observation", look at people around you, how they move, sit, talk, facial expressions, anatomy. Once your mind have learned that you will get a better perception. Next, do research; have references in any case, can look at pics of people on the web or take pictures yourself, sometimes when I don't find the right reference I ask some to pose for me heh or a pose myself. Or my fav thing, screenshots from movies since directors have especial cameras for great takes. Also, if you can afford drawing books would help a lot, especially in anatomy so you can get the muscles and proportions rightly.
Then, practice poses, I think as a first try to do it without references once finished do another with references and you will get the difference and where to avoid mistakes.
Also influence is important to me, try to get to know more artists and pick some you prefer as an influence and get inspired by their art and most important, enjoy drawing and practice as much as you can!

Yeah I get what you mean about not liking tragic stories. Real life is hard enough so fiction is usually where I escape to a happy place, but yeah I went into Anidala hoping for the best and just getting crushed so they're still special to me.
