for as long as i can remember, one family member or another of mine has suffered from hearing problems. it's always been somewhat of an irrational fear for me, the thought of losing my hearing. it's something i don't know that i could live without. how would i listen to my music? how would i hear the sounds of life around me? how would i hear the voices of the people i love? how would i become a court reporter? on friday, i was informed that i have hearing loss in both of my ears from having ear infections so often in my childhood. i was terrified. i'm still sad, but i'm dealing with it. all i can hope is that it doesn't get worse- i can still hear, just not as well as i used to. talk about reality hitting me hard.
