Why? I have no idea... the idea just floated into my mind this morning and wouldn't keep quiet until it was on paper - I know for a fact that my heart rate increased while I was drawing that octopus!So anyways, this is my first self portrait in about seven years, and the second time I've ever tried to "properly" draw an octopus (i.e. not a ball with 8 wiggly lines coming from it).
It took a few hours from go to whoa, but for a fairly slapdash job I'm pretty happy with it
I may paint this sometime down the track - see how we go...Graphite on cartridge paper.

I really like this. The shading the everything. Its soft but intense at the same time.

Thankyou! I've been trying to push my boundaries, building up layers of hatching instead of increasing pressure with my pencil in shadowed areas. I think it turned out okay.
