Description
This was a fairly quick sketch, only took me about a day, while I usually work on my drawings for at least a week. It came about as I was studying clinical anatomy, and played Dawn of War 2 right afterwards. Originally, there was no head, but that just seemed kinda unfinished to me, so I added Cyrus'. I had also been considering Tarkus, but I noticed, looking at several screenshots, that he doesn't have visible eyes; they're always hidden in shadows.

Now I have been reading that some people believe only fully matured Astartes receivesthe Black Carapace, which is wrong: Space Marine Neophytes get them implanted as they're transformed, during their adolescent. Ergo, Scouts have them.

Second there has been debate whether the Carapace is beneath the skin or above, and whether or not its visible. Given what I've read, its implanted just under the skin, but hardens on the outside. But even if it didn't you'd still see it, just as you see arteries and veins.
