Description Just wanted to figure out how the scales should flow across this guy's anatomy, though it kind of ended up as an overall character redesign of Arrogath.

p.s.

His tail fan is made up of modified elongated scales rather than any bone structure or webbing.

He is inspired a bit by Y Ddraig Goch, love that mythology

I'll admit to not being familiar with that name. Is that just the name of the red dragon?

Yes, the red dragon on the welsh flag is a character from the MabinogionΒ

That's not the one where two dragons are fighting under the foundations of a castle is it?

I really must look this stuff up, I used to be so into it.

Yeah that's it, and Merlin dictates the two dragons represent the saxons and the welsh

I genuinely want to know how you make the scales look so nice and even and have the patience to do so

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KatePfeilschiefter In reply to Noodle-Drake [2015-09-27 21:54:27 +0000 UTC]

Reference and drawing at a large resolution. Patience surprisingly doesn't tend to be a problem, drawing tiny little scales can be strangely addictingΒ

That's cool!
I tend to get addicted to drawing tiny details so maybe it wouldn't be so hard if i sat down and made myself focus and just do it haha
