"Come to say hello, Gormlaith
I love you, little one
I gave birth to you, before your time (ahead of time)
little warrior, (my) little darling"
Sooooooo here is a small nothing for another OC character me and Arts-Of-Metamoor have been working on for months and moths (ironically for another AU but maybe the Avatar AU (given the new wave of the universe love thanks to the new film) I thought this would be the perfect time to introcuce her now!! So...here's Gormlaith! The youngest biological daughter of Caleb Barton and Dilla! She is adorable isn't she? (try to ignore my small drawing skills! )
Name: Gormlaith
Full name: Gormlaith te Galhot Dilla i'te
Age: 12-13 years old
Height: approximately 7 feet
Appearance: Gormlaith is a mixed race Na'vi (coming from both her father's Avatar and human DNA and her mother's). She has the general makeup of a normal Na'vi (scrawny figure, miniscule chest blue skin etc) with some minor additions. For example she inherited her father's greenish eyes and the smaller eyeballs of an Avatar/Human plus her Queue is at the base of her nape like an Avatar rather than on top of her head like a Na'vi, but she posesses the 4 digits and toes of normal Na'vi and has no eyebrows.
Gormlaith took many things from her father such as the slightly messy hair which she keeps short with a pair of slightly longer braids to the front and she simply adds some beads in her messy hair. As a general rule she has a bit shabby appearance, mainly because she doesn't feel like taking care of her looks very much and prefers a more "tomboyish" look. She often completes her appearance with jewelry made out of beads but she doesn't want to wear anything too showy or something that gets in her way.
She completes her appearance with a piercing to her left ear.
Personality: All you need to do is add her father's adventurous and "show-off" nature, his stubborness and his sense of justice but add some of Dilla's sweetness and she is there with you. Gormlaith is a sassy and little spitfire of a teenager minus the temper. She prefers to make snarky jokes and smirk rather than lose her head. Of course if she actually loses her temper there is probably no stopping her from turning a full "chiuaua mode".
Gormlaith is very open-minded and curious. She wants to know things from both cultures which made her be bilingual in both English and Na'vi really soon (in fact as a little girl she expressed interest in learning some more native languages from some of the scientists like Spanish or Mandarin). Although her stuborness might get the best of her, she still is willing to learn which makes her even more excitable and non-stop in her pursue of knowledge. She wants to prove herself to people which makes her a bit rush but she still tries her best to...keep herself under control! She can be very petty sometimes (driving her cousin Jaoral insane sometimes!). Most people of her clan call her "Caleb No.2"!
Personal story: Gormlaith was rather a heart-attack for her family (like her brother Kai before her). Due to complications during her birth, Gormlaith was a premature baby. What's more, during her birth, her mother suffered a rare case of womb tearing (her uterous practically cut open inside her). Dilla was rushed to Hell's Gate for immediate surgery and was rescued just in time thanks to the doctors there and her brother Ballard who donated blood to her. (due to the damage to her, Dilla had to get a partial hysterectomy, to save her from unecessary risks since she probably wouldn't have any more children after her ordeal). Gormlaith was kept for months there as a premature baby under constant survailance before she was able to walk out safely. Both Caleb and Dilla were eternally grateful to the doctors for their help.
Very soon they saw that Gormlaith made a full recovery. Caleb named her such after his old roots (given that the name "Caleb" has old language roots and means "faithful") so instead of naming her after some Na'vi name, he named her Gormlaith, a name of Irish and Scottish descend which means "Blue Princess" or "Illustrous Princess". She was growing fine and soon realized she had nothing to envy from other children. Her family also supported her in all her steps. Her curiosity often puts her in trouble but her resembance to her father mentally sure allows her to think of a solution to a difficult situation which would come in handy in her later adventures in Pandora. Currently she is training to climb the Iknimaya when her time comes and she of course cannot wait for it.
Skills: Gormlaith seems to have gained some of her father's talents in arts and her mother's in craftsmanship. She usually likes sketching around and doodling or trying to make some beaded necklaces for herself and others. She seems to have gotten her mother's talent in singing for she has a very sweet singing voice.
She is not the best huntress but she is definitely excited enough to try every time. Her favorite thing is to train with horses and stuff so that she can one day fly he Ikran! She seems to have a great potential to it to say the very least. Her charming humor is definitely one of her greatest weapons. Her language skills are definitely to be commented upon too.
Gormlaith was created before but the reason we also think her name fits here is because neither Arts-Of-Metamoor nor I wish to see Caleb completely discarding his human identity so we thought a purely "human name" would fit here.
To those who are more familiar to the Avatar movies, Gormlaith can be seen like a mixture of Kiri and Tuktirey.
Gormlaith can be so much like her father that sometimes Caleb jokes he will make her his favorite drinking buddy when she is of age!
Gormlaith is a very good friend to Elyon who is kind of her mentor in her drawing and doodling
Gormlaith is already trying to figure a cool name for her Ikran when she gets it!
The reason why I added "te Galhot" instead of "te Barton" to her "family name" it was because I find it kinda silly that we assume Na'vi follow the exact same laws of marriage as humans and the wife or her children taking the surname of her husband so I assumed the same way that the kids are "daughters of their mother" if girls and "sons of their father" if boys, the same I wonder if it goes for their family name but maybe no. It was just a clumsy little thing there! Maybe it is CALEB the one to get the surname "te Galhot" because Dilla has more authority than him socially in her clan or something. Not sure yet
