Description
This is a small gift for NattisloveManga
We have started a roleplay to remember good old days named "Split" in which Yami Yugi "splits" into his four incarnations (Normal Yami, Season 0 Yami, Pharaoh Atem and Henry Tudor) so the four parts of his co-exist in Modern World.
For our roleplay each one of them has their own individual personalities, tastes, dressing codes etc and so we agreed it would be only natural that they also have different decks as well Of course that wouldn't be hard since Yugi's decks are all over the place and we can find many different styles to create actually themed decks.
However we believe that all of his incarnations/personalities would still hold dear their Dark Magician cards. Thankfully Dark Magician comes in many different artworks so it was pretty easy for me to find some suitable that will make them different, just like the incarnations but at the same time same!
So here goes:
Yami Yugi: Purple (Classic) Dark Magician
For Yami I chose the Classical Dark Magician artwork. This artwork has grown on us all after all and it was the most frequently viewed in the anime. Yami is still the starting point of our Roleplays so it would also be fair he would have the basic artwork
Spirit (Season0): Red ("Evil") Dark Magician
For Spirit (comes from the "Spirit of Millennium Puzzle, aka Season 0 Yami) I was pretty convinced the Red Dark Magician would fit better. That Dark Magician used by Pandora/Arcana and usually having a more malicious smirk on his face seemed to be great for the darker version of Yami. Besides the Red Dark Magician is not "evil" because he served a Ghoul/Rare Hunter the same way that Spirit is super extreme but not "evil". Plus the tanned skin this version of Dark Magician has can be a nice contrast to Spirit, whom we usually describe in our roleplay as "vampire-pale".
Pharaoh Atem: Green (DSOD) Dark Magician
For Atem, former Pharaoh of Egypt, I was devided at first. Mahad's transformation in the anime and manga was the "Classical Form" of Dark Magician so I was wondering whether that version would suit him better however in the end I changed my mind and I thought that the artwork that appears in DSOD movie would be perfect for him. Atem is the most distinguished out of the four incarnations due to the color of his skin (tanned) and this version of Dark Magician is also very distinguished. Plus the artwork and facial expression does resemble Mahad more than the others and green color was associated with ancient Egyptian gods like Hathor or Ra due to the fertility symbolism. So I thought this version would suit him more.
Henry Tudor: Blue (Alternative) Dark Magician
For Henry I have no idea why but I always imagined him with the Blue version of Dark Magician. I believe he also appeares as blue colored in the game but I am not entirely sure. I had imagined that incarnation of Dark Magician with Henry though, without me realizing why so the choice of the Blue Dark Magician being with Henry was pretty early. Blue Roses were also not a thing till much later but they are considered rather rare man-made coloring and I thought it suited the case here. Plus this Dark Magician has some hints of red on his suit that do match the red on Henry's hair and eyes.
