"disharmony" - something I often have in this city. We have here a lot of social and other problems, but outwardly we are working hard to show the gloss, luxury and excellence. Everything is for the show. Moscow is one of the most of expensive cities in terms of accommodation. Some people here are building castles with six meters high fences. It's here still you need to think 10 times before you come into a very expensive store, because you can realize that you are not corresponding. About the Porsche. For me this is the striking example of highly specific luxury car. So... for a rich part of Moscow, it's a kind of symbol (female version), as well as Bentley (male). But for some reason, looking into the eyes of the holders of all this stuff, there is no sincere desire to follow their aspirations.

ps - And excuse me for my clumsy English

I love the evening sky with the polluting stacks and heavy haze. It would be an interesting artistic experiment to portray the excess of consumption. Owning a few nice "things" is fundamental to how both our cultures measure "success" in social terms. What most people need is a reevaluation of the word "success" as it should be personally defined. An individual's excessive consumption, or "never having enough" is truly disharmony. The irony is that having expensive goods never fulfills a lasting happiness, but frequently fuels the desire for more in a never ending spiral of dissatisfaction. Someone once said that "the more things you own, the more things own you". Your English is clear and well stated. I wish we had a way to merge our languages to be more precise in our expressions.  But that's what art offers us all!

I have spent the night following 'favorites' from artist to artist hoping to find new images and this is one night it paid off. I love this - the colors are great , it has a great feeling of depth, and the feeling of a bubble world separated from the real world outside really comes across for me.

Really digging the choice of background for this. Really brings home the whole theme.

Don't get me wrong though.. I'd take the car. And drive the wheels off it.

Great Shot!

Your English is perfectly fine, in fact, you get the point across very well. Beautifully described, bleak, but I think not much different than in a lot of other countries at the moment.
Beautiful image, I really love the predominance of red, it evokes the memory of Russia's past.

No, this is a combined picture - a mix of different pieces from images with a little bit different perspective. Then I make post processing of some parts of the image in Photoshop with hand tools. This is similar to drawing on top. After that I have this effect.

Moscow is turning into a western style capital - London's very similar. It has so much ostentatious wealth, juxtaposed with such decay and poverty, it's like parallel universes. "Gated Communities" are what the rich ghettos behind high fences are called. I hear St Petersburg is extortionately expensive too. The eyes of the holders of all the glittery stuff are often very dull and lifeless. I think that's what makes them - and their values, so deeply unattractive.
This Red Moscow could not be further from the former "Red" socialist Moscow, which had passion. No bread, but plenty of passion

You are absolutely right. Now we have some revolutionary mood here. But even that looks well-fed and lazy. Although, I don't wish the passion for my country, the way of blood, violence and poverty. That was enough. New times - more civilized, and I want a soft and warm changes for the better. But I don't believe strongly that this is possible. We have a very large country with big territory and a lot of people. It's hard.

Russia has made such fast progress over the past 10 years or so. I know what you mean about lazy well fed revolutionaries. We have them too, protesting about the crazy excesses of the banks, which made all our lives harder. What may be different is that our authorities are very nervous about public opinion. Our media is very critical, and anyone can challenge the government in the courts, without fear of reprisal. This kind of freedom does not arrive overnight. But there was more media freedom in the reporting of the recent demonstrations in Moscow. I watch Russian TV, and it's got better.

Even when the old order fell in Russia, it was not as violent as it could have been, but what followed must have been hard indeed. It was shameful that we in the West did so little to help then.

It's often said here that Russia needs a hard man, indeed, wants a harsh leader, because it is so vast, and difficult to govern. Is it really true?

I doubt it is the best way to maintain a stable civil society. Change does come gradually but it's often more lasting if it comes slowly. Either way - it's always difficult.
