Description
This story took place about 10 years ago. Dill was 17, and Parsley was 5.

Poor little Parsley had a bad cold. It was a warm Saturday afternoon, but she didn't have the energy to go out and play with the rest of her siblings, which made her really sad. She spent the day on the couch watching TV or sleeping, which wasn't much fun, but she was too sick to do anything else.
Mom came in with some cough syrup.
MOM: Alright, Parsley, time to take your medicine.
PARSLEY: Yuck!
MOM: I know, it doesn't taste very good, but it'll help you feel better. And if you take it, I'll let you have a spoonful of chocolate syrup afterwards to take the yucky taste out.
PARSLEY: Ok.

So Parsley took a spoonful of the medicine, then Mom gave her a spoonful of chocolate syrup.
PARSLEY: Mmm. I wish the medicine tasted like chocolate.
MOM: Well, if it did, you'd want to take more, and too much medicine is bad for you. Alright, you get some rest now. "kisses Parsley on the cheek" I'll check on you later.
PARSLEY: Ok, Mommy.

So Mom left the living room and Parsley laid down on the couch. She didn't feel sleepy, she was bored. The chocolate cheered her up a little bit, but she wished she could go and play with her siblings. She sadly laid on the couch staring at the ceiling until her big brother Dill came in the room. He noticed how sad Parsley looked.
DILL: Hey, little sis, how are you feeling.
PARSLEY: Icky-sicky.
DILL: Aww, that's no fun
PARSLEY: No it isn't. I wanna play, but I'm too tired.
DILL: Hmm, well, the rest of the kids are too busy playing to watch the greatest comedy show of all time: The Silly Dilly Show!
PARSLEY: Silly Dilly Show? Is that on TV?
DILL: Ha ha, no! It's right here! "points his thumbs towards himself" Let me just get set up.

So Dill grabbed a wooden crate from the garage, and then grabbed a whisk from the kitchen to use as a microphone. He stood on the crate and it looked like he was on a stage.
DILL: Hidey-ho, everybunny, and welcome to the Silly Dilly Show! I hope you're ready to laugh!

Parsley was already smiling by her brother's enthusiasm.
DILL: Alright, I have some jokes for you today. Ok, so there's two muffins sitting in an oven, right? And one says 'whew, it's hot in here', and then the other says 'AHH! A talking muffin!'
PARSLEY: "giggles" Ha ha, a talking muffin!
DILL: You think that's funny, well here's another one for you: What's black and white and black and white and black and white and black and white?
PARSLEY: Uhh...
DILL: A penguin rolling down a hill!
PARSLEY: Ahh! Ha ha ha!
DILL: And what's black and white and laughing? The penguin that pushed him!

Parsley was laughing and giggling at the jokes, but Dill wasn't done yet.
DILL: Knock knock!
PARSLEY: Who's there?
DILL: Banana!
PARSLEY: Banana who?
DILL: Knock knock!
PARSLEY: Who's there!
DILL: Banana!
PARSLEY: Banana who?
DILL: Knock knock!
PARSLEY: Ha ha, who's there?
DILL: Orange!
PARSLEY: Orange who?
DILL: Orange you glad I ate the banana that kept knocking on your door?

Parsley laughed and laughed at that joke. She wasn't expecting the twist ending. She giggled a bit more, then started to yawn and rub her eyes. She laid down, and Dill stepped off his stage and went up to her.
DILL: And our final joke of the day. What's yellow and purple and cute all over?
PARSLEY: "sleepily" What?
DILL: My sweet little sister Parsley!

Parsley smiled at Dill before closing her eyes and falling asleep on the couch. Dill pulled her blanket up until it was completely covering her and kissed her forehead.
DILL: "whispers" That's all for the show today, thanks for being a great audience.

He quietly brought the crate back to the garage, and as he was going into the kitchen to put the whisk back, his mom was there.
MOM: Oh, so that's where my whisk went. Aww, thanks for cheering Parsley up, Dill. I think she really needed that.
DILL: No problem. I had fun too!

It really was a fun time. Parsley felt much better after her nap, especially after the entertainment she received from her big brother. It's great to have someone there to cheer you up when you're under the weather. After all, like Dill always says: Laughter is the best medicine! And laughter doesn't taste like cough syrup.
