A gentle nature in fair river further you brew, most inspiring and heartfelt. Your paintings are beautiful. Keep the canvas in fields of radiance. Thank you for your time.

This is really nice. I like the lighting effect you did around the two figures

Hello, from ProjectComment!

This is a really interesting, eye catching piece, and I like where you were headed with it. Without any description to go on, it gives me the sense of a couple who were swept up in a moment and found themselves dancing under a streetlight in the rain. I think you did a great job of presenting an impressionistic interpretation of that moment, and I love how you simulated the light coming from behind/above them, and I think the general positioning of the subjects is pretty great.

Like the previous commenter, I was confused by the two lines in the top corner, but I found your explanation of why they’re there.  For what it’s worth, I’d encourage you to be confident enough in the piece’s ability to survive a “quiet” corner. Not every inch of a canvas needs to be screaming with activity, you know? I mean, the lines could work here, interpreted as unintelligible writing in some way that just as impressionistic rather than defined as the rest of the image, but at the same time, it knocks me out of the story of the two dancers.

The only other critiques I have is that a little more differentiation between the figures’ legs might make the image a little clearer (not so much in shape, but maybe an extra layer or two of the color of the guy’s pants), and, even for an impressionistic style, I think the woman’s arm is a bit too long.

I love the general setup, though, and there’s something about the idea of her holding the umbrella over them as they dance in the rain is very cool.

Okay, that’s all I have. If you were looking for a comment on something specific that I missed, let me know and I’ll try to swing back around.

Kevin

Hello, I am from ProjectComment

I have ot say I like pieces like this. Art runs in my family so I feel a special connection to it, so that’s why I was drawn to this. I like this kind of style with the heavy paint and an emphasis on abstract thought. I feel as though it gives the piece a really good vibe and energy, a life of its own to say? I really like the forms of the central figures, dancing in the rain, holding up the umbrella, it invokes a really warm feeling as if you’re watching a classic movie...like Dancing in the Rain LOL Although I haven’t seen that movie, but who doesn’t know about it? Anyway, this is project comment so I have to be critical, and I do notice a few things as well as have a couple of questions. While I said I like the forms of the central figures, I feel as though more detail was needed to help them stand out more against the heavy looking rain. It just feels as if they are being drowned out in the background there. Second, the legs are kind of indistinguishable from one another; perhaps darker lines or differing colors to help with that? Lastly, I don’t get why there’s two seemingly random lines in the upper lefthand (my left) corner of the piece? Why are they there and what purpose to they serve? Other than those aspects, it’s a really nice piece which shows a lot of promise from a really talented person. Great job

It’s nice that you wanted to fill in negative space, but yeah, I agree, maybe another color would have been better or something less distracting next time. Great piece though
