“Can I ask you a favor?” Tadashi asks hesitantly over the phone.

Uh oh. You hate it when he asks for favors, because you can never resist him. You let out a low sigh, shifting you cell phone from one ear to the other, “What is it?”

He’s quiet for a moment, “Can I come over?”

You roll your eyes, “Is that the favor? Because that isn’t really a big deal. You know you can come over whenever you want to.”

Tadashi exhales in a short laugh, “No, that’s not the favor, but I think I can convince you better in person.”

“Oh gosh, are you planning on coming here to seduce me or something?”

This time he laughs outright, “No, at least that’s not my first intention. However, desperate times may call for desperate measure, so I won’t guarantee that I won’t be seducing you tonight, either.”

You laugh and shake your head at him, “Just get your butt over here, Hamada. Then we’ll see about this favor.”

“Alright. See you in a few.”

“Kay,” you agree, before hanging up. You continue making your dinner as you wait for the knock on your door.

It doesn’t take very long, so you walk out of the small kitchen area of your apartment and move to the front door. Opening it, you are surprised when you aren’t greeted by Tadashi’s smiling face, but rather, a tiny, furry, black and white face with electric green eyes. You stare at the tiny animal for a moment, before looking up to see Tadashi giving you his famous puppy dog look.

“Why are you holding a kitten in my face?” you ask with a raised eye brow.

“Because you’re both going to be the best of friends?” Tadashi offers with a hesitant smile.

You realize that this was the favor he was going to ask and immediately start shaking your head, “Oh no. No, no, no… Seriously, Tadashi? I can’t take care of a cat!”

Tadashi’s frown deepens dramatically, “But he’s not a cat. He’s just a poor defenseless kitten.” He takes a step closer and you match him by stepping back.

“Tadashi… pets are expensive. I can’t afford to keep him, even if I wanted to.”

“I’ll help you! I’ll bring you food and toys and anything else he may need! I just need somewhere that he can stay.”

You frown, “Then why can’t you just keep him?”

“I tried, but then Mochi tried to eat him. She’s gotten really territorial over the house. When she wasn’t trying to eat him, she kept smacking him on the head.”

You sigh and feel your shoulders slump. “Alright, bring him in,” you say, opening the door some more, so Tadashi could enter.

He bends down to grab the cat carrier at his feet and walks into your apartment. Moving into the living room, he sits on the carpet and sets the kitten down. The curious little creature immediately starts exploring the place, sniffing every little thing. He was a black and white, tuxedo kitten, meaning he was mostly black with white paws, chest and a partially white face.

You close and lock the front door, before joining Tadashi on the floor. “Where’d you find him?”

“In the parking lot at school. He was alone. I tried waiting around to see if his mother would show up, but she never did. (Name), I couldn’t just leave him there.”

“I know, you big softy,” you mumble, scooting over so you could lean against him and rest your head on his shoulder. In return, he leans his head over to rest it on yours. “Have you named him yet?”

“No, but I was thinking something like… Sushi.”

You laugh, “You and your family’s obsession with naming pets after food. Sushi, Mochi, and didn’t you have a lizard named Gyoza when you were little?”

“What’s wrong with that?” Tadashi asks, laughing with you.

“If I’m really keeping this cat, I’m not calling him Sushi,” you say, lifting your head off his shoulder.

“But, will you really keep him?” Tadashi asks hesitantly.

By now, the kitten has made its way over to you and is sniffing your crossed legs. You reach out to run your fingers through his soft baby hair. “I guess he’s kind of cute.” As you continue to pet him, he starts to purr and it quickly gets louder and louder. “Dang, does he have an entire combustion engine in there?!” you ask, surprised that such a loud noise could come from something so small.

Tadashi laughs and watches as you pick up the kitten and hold him close. “Are you getting attached, yet?”

You look up from the adorable little animal and glare slightly at him. “This is all your fault,” you grumble, because you’re totally attached now that he’s purring for you.

He grins widely at you, “Can’t say that I’m too apologetic, though.”

You laugh when the little kitten squirms in your arms and starts to climb up your shirt to stand up on your shoulder. You tilt your neck back and move your hair out of the way. “Yes, I can train you to be my pirate-parrot-cat!” you say as the kitten tries to balance on your shoulder. Tadashi laughs at the two of you.

“I’ve got some stuff for him down in Aunt Cass’s truck. I’ll go get it.”

“Kay,” you respond, pulling the kitten off your shoulder and setting him on the ground. You play with him by quickly moving your fingers across the carpet. He crouches down and watches your movements with wide eyes, occasionally working up the energy to pounce. You’re so distracted by playing with him, that you don’t realize there’s a pile of cat stuff accumulating at your doorway as Tadashi goes back and forth between your apartment and the car to get it all.

You hear Tadashi let out a soft sigh, when he’s finally finished moving everything, and you turn around. “Holy cow! Did you really buy all this stuff today?!” you ask in shock. There’s an empty litter box, filled with a ton of cat toys, like mice and balls and ribbons attached to sticks. There’s also a laser pointer, cat treats and a couple of cans of wet food. He brought in a giant bag of dry kitten food and two large containers of litter. There’s also a retractable tunnel toy, a small cat tree, and three cat beds. “He’s one kitten. Why does he need all this stuff?”

Tadashi shrugs, “I didn’t want him to get bored while we were at school.”

You smile and shake your head at him, “You’re just as adorable as the kitten, you know that?”

He grins and bends down to kiss your forehead, “So are you.”

Pushing yourself off of the floor, you stand up next to him. “So, even though I’ve agreed to your favor, can I still request a seducing as form of payment?” you ask coyly.

One corner of his mouth and one eye brow lift up as his places a hand on your waist to pull you closer. “You can ask for a seducing whenever you want, and I guarantee I won’t have any objections.”

You laugh and lean in to kiss him, but pull back when you feel a little furry body rubbing up against your ankle. “Aw! Are you mad that I’m not paying attention to you, baby kitty?” you coo, bending down to pick him up.

“Wait, what just happened?” Tadashi asks in confusion after not getting his kiss.

Laughing, you look up from the kitten in your arms over to your boyfriend. “I guess this little guy is better at seducing girls then you are. I mean, just look at this face!”

He frowns, “Why am I starting to think that this wasn’t such a good idea?”

“Jealous that you now have to compete for my attention? It’s too late, I’ve already agreed to keep him.” You bring the little furry body up to your face and start showering him with kisses.

“Yeah, this was definitely a bad idea.”
