When my image gets blurred & I take the shot, it gets in focus. Is there a way to keep the shot blurred?

Is the 1.8 in your tutorial the F-number? My lens doesn't go any lower than F3.5, if it is.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I made my shape cover but yet I don't get lights of hearts when I take a picture. I just get a picture of what's in front of me, just with the image being in a heart shape with everything else around being blacked out.

hello !
nice tutorial, but i don't get what you have to do after you made the heart shaped paper to get the colored heart on the picture, is it by using photoshop and stamping the hearts?
thank you

This is a very informative tutorial! I shall have to remember this when I actually get my own camera. ^^

I need help ;__;
I used christmas lights in the background to get an bokeh effect. When I look trough the eye cup there are perfect bokeh circles. But on the picture it is just a bright area. What do I wrong? I used a stand so normally it is not because my hands were shaking.

Thanks! I'm totally saving up for that lens. Right now, the lowest aperture my camera will go to is 2.8. I think that might be why my bokeh isn't very smooth. (i've been adding blurs and more in photoshop to make them look nice...yet they still are a little noisy).

Kath, awesome Bokeh tutorial. I especially love the heart-shaped filter. I bet you could use those shaped hole punches that scrap-bookers use to make some interesting shapes.

Yeah you could, if you live where it snows you could make snowflakes.
