actually, they said they wanted to make the whole thing a trilogy if the first became a success...so u may just have to hold out for a while
i hate her too, but they also said that they gave david the specific lines not mentioning she's "the one" because they don't want to:
a) show david as the 'good' guy, who u know will always do the right thing and
b)it's not that kind of typical love story- meaning he'll never end up with her by movie III
