I'm VERY partial to B&W, but I'd be curious to see the original color shot on this one...since (I'm assuming) it's a black and white animal. It's an amazing shot either way for sure, but just made me curious to see the other too. Good Job (zoo's are NOT easy)!

Penguins are really beautiful animals and You emphasizes their cuteness by this photo very well.
I'm wonder how those cute animals survives the days in zoo which may be in warm place when thier real home is the shores of snow desert called which the Anatartic really is.

this place is really good, they have fans for them and ice cold water in their pools. also here in the uk, most of the year isnt that warm!

glad you like the shot. i got so close because the place i went to has "free roaming" penguins, so they can wander into the area where the public are allowed to walk, but they also have a lot of space which is private and only for the penguins. if that makes any sense!

im afraid i dont know which breed they are, i am about to put the colour version of this one up though, so maybe it will be easier to identify.
Me and my bf go to the zoo every few months, all these recent shots are from the same zoo. we dont tend to go back to the same one twice so gives a nice variation

yes i was very close, the place i went to, the penguins roam freely in this area where the public can walk so you can get within a few feet of the ones who choose to that area. it was really cool. you couldnt touch them or anything though because the keepers would only allow you to get so close (not that i wanted to touch them, but just saying). but i do have a fairly good zoom too

Great! Reminds me of the park in the city near us where I go often for walks with my parents. They have penguins too. I like to fool with them. I have always a pocket mirror with me. If I'm lucky and the sun stands good I can catch a sun beam with that mirror and send the reflection right into the compound. So funny to see the penguins running around to catch it.
