There is such an amazing "completeness" (for lack of a better word) in your artwork. I wish I could do scenery/landscapes the way you do!

This piece was done on 20 x 30in watercolor board (watercolor board is a good piece of watercolor paper that is atached to a really thick cardboard backing... makes it so the paper doesn't buckle at all (you can also streatch watercolor paper as well). for this piece I used ink wash and built up a full tonal underpainitng. After that I used thinned out oils (w/ 50/50 mineral spirits and liquin- liquin is a drying medium). I used thin layers to build up my color. honestly It was challenging to do because some oil colors are transparent and others are opaque. I didn't want to cmpletely loose the underpainting so I had to struggle a little bit to make the paint work for me. Though it didn't come out as I had initially envisioned it.. I like to think it was reasonably sucsessful ^_^
I've seen your work before.. in fact I have one or 2 of your pieces in my favorites^^ I only saw one piece of art combining ink and watercolor.. but it looked good to me. The challenge in combining the 2 is that one of the media has to be dominant.. otherwise they compete >_< but the one piece seems to be a good mix of the 2. I don't have any crits for your work.. I rather enjoy them.. they're very expressive and have a good range of value and color. thanks for the comments^_^ I hope I've been able to answer your questions... if you have anymore feel free to let me know ^____^

Wow, I've seen a lot of art from various artist on DeviantArt, and I have pretty high standards, but this painting is the first one where I felt compelled to comment on it. It's beautiful first of all, but for some reason when I see it I feel something deeper from it. There's a magic in it. It's something very few of the pieces I've seen on here have made me feel. It's like I can tell you put your whole heart into it, and thats a special thing. I feel it when I see Miyazaki films too. Anyhoo, your profile says you want to be a children's book author, and I have no doubt in my mind that you will be. Good luck to ya, even tho you don't need it.

This is amazing! You have such way with Life and emotion and bringing Beauty to the strangest placeses! Great work!
Question: was your intent to leave it full view so big for a reason? (to show of the girl perhaps?)...if not if i may suggest, you shrink the image and re-upload it so its not so huge in a full view
Again Great work!

Lol i know what you mean, i use to get alot of complaints so one day i Resized EVERY THIGN in my galler to be about the same size in full view, and it looked as if my Gallery had exploded, so any thing that is still huge i put a note saying "HUGE" when full view... Wish there was a Normal, Big and then Full View... I love getting a closer look...then some times i want to get a REALY close look, lol...
but still its a great picture!
